However, they are recorded in the county where the license was issued, which was the couny of the bride's residence. That does,t necessarily mean that the marriage took place in the county where the license was issued. Plains is in Sumter Co., so write to the Office of Judge of Probate, c/o Sumter County Courthouse, Americus, Ga. They will not have the certificate, but it will be recorded in their marriage books.
