    3. Even today there are ministers who serve more than one congregation. Some are so small they only meet once or twice per month. In particular, I know this to be true for Bold Springs United Methodist Church in Grady County, Ga. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 2. I read in the northern states that they pre-dug graves before the winter months as the ground would be too frozen for burials.

    1. [GA-Roots] Questions on Georgia customs
    2. A cousin recently mailed me a copy of a page from a family Bible. Something puzzled me and I was wondering if any of you could shed any light on the mystery. The date of birth and death is listed for the man and the woman. Then it tells the date that their funeral was preached. The date for the man's was almost 9 months after his death and the woman's was listed as 6 months after her death. Is this some sort of mistake or was that possible? How could it be? Why? The person who recorded all this information seemed to have recorded it carefully even giving the names of the preachers who preached the funerals as well as chapters and verses of the Bible from which the text was taken. Any help appreciated. Pat

    1. [GA-Roots] Georgia State Web Site for AHGP Updated
    2. Doris Robbins
    3. The Georgia State Web Site for American History and Genealogy Project (AHGP) has been updated. Several counties have been adopted recently and two counties have new URLs. The web site is at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/state/ This is a FREE Genealogy & History site. Some of the "pages" at the web site is the Volunteer Pages. Many people have said they would do look-ups for people in Georgia. They have books, personal records or will go to the library, courthouse or cemetery to do the look-ups. The volunteers are listed by counties. If you have a Genealogy Event or Workshop planned, you can post the information on the site. How about a Mystery Photo? We have several that people need help with. How about those old photos that you are not sure about when they were made. There is a "Page" with information about "Dating Clothes". There is also a Brick Wall page where you can list your "brickwall relative". Also a place to list your Family Reunion. Stop by soon and see what all has been added since your last visit. 2. Joe & Steph
    3. Hi.... I am also researching George Crawford..no info on him..just that he married Villa (LaVilla) Crews on Apr 24, 1918 in Charlton Co, GA. Villa was born Jul 11, 1902 in Charlton Co, GA to Henry Lawton and Dorothy Corneal Crews. I am trying to find anything on this family....I am not sure when and if she has died....she maybe still alive....I am also trying to locate them in the census...but the George Crawford I keep finding in married to a Missouri....I found a George Crawford in 1920, but I do not think it is him....so I am still trying to locate them in the 1920 and 1930 census....I am assuming they are in Charlton Co, GA still. So if someone can help me, appreciate any help anyone can give....and thank you.... Stephanie Grohol

It is full of all kinds of American Revolution service for many names familiar to Georgia, and worth a look. It shows that the battle of Cowpens was fought 'at his uncle Joseph Hanna's plantation' My interest in Mary Parks is some kind of connection between the Henderson family and the Parks and Burroughs family, c. early 1800's. The website has the picture of the gravestones for Robert Hanna and his wife, Mary Parks Hanna. I do know that a Martha Hanna(h) married a Daniel Henderson c. 1820 around Screven County, GA, and then Daniel died, and Martha remarried.
