    3. Thanks Jeanie, You have hit upon some rellies there and I appreciate all your efforts and advice. I got word today that a LDS film about Kitchens Cemeterys in georgia has arrived and I am going to have my first look at it tomorrow evening (thursday). I live in Western Australia but have rellies in the US who might like to get those copies you mention as they would also like them. 3. Good Evening to all, I would be interested in this information but I have to admit, it worries me to think that personal mail directed to our kin back home is still floating around. A lot of personal comments were made in these letters, especially to our girl friends. One of the things I remember were gaps in text content of the letters I sent home. My mother showed me some I sent and they looked like a hungery gopher had gotten into the house and ate a portion of the letter. Unfortunately, since her death in 1961 the V-mail letters disappeared. I found that locating an obituary in old newspapers at the local library helped me with a date, and with that I was able to pinpoint the date of death, so I could send to the state in which it happened. I did finally get a death certificate without it costing an arm and a leg. The state will charge for every extra look up that they have to do, so it is very practical to have an exact date, or within a few days. Pat, in Indiana

    3. Would you make an old lady happy by seeing if that Ga death index lists McKees who died in a group about 1935?..My Mom's sibs & her Mom,Edna L. EZELL, were in a wreck that took her Mom,sister Betty Jean & possibly, her brother,Wesley. Would the index list Ga citizens who died returning to Ga, even if it happened before they crossed Ga border? Unsure where it happened. Am told Atlanta but also told Alabama. Paid Ala for death cert on 5 yr old Betty & got certificate of "inability to locate record" ! Paid Ga for death certificate on other kin & it was found but said,"parents unk!" That's how my luck is, even SS-5 was NOT for my kin, just a same name error with no refund! Thanks even if you can't check, ok? Dot Hunt

I contacted Vital Records, and they have no record of him. I contacted the funeral home and they had sold the funeral home and the old records destroyed. He was a farmer all of his life and did not have social security. Any one have any ideas on how to find out if there is a DC out anywhere? Thanks, Pat

    3. Hello, My father was born 1913 in Griswoldville,Jones Co,Georgia,USA. I believe the family religon was Episcopalian. I have recently discovered a LDS film [No 1903706] which has Kitchens folks in Griswoldville in the following groups 1809-1825, parents William Kitchens and Mary Story Brooks 1839-1857, parents William Kitchens and Nancy W Kelly Can anyone advise me of e or snail addresses of any Church, Family History Soc or fellow genealogist that can assist my research? >From what little I have learned so far [I live in Western Australia, the home of the black swan] Griswoldville is not that large a place and was hit heavily during the Civil War. I have also found another film [No 1230620] which lists Jones Co deaths as follows Father: Boze Kitchens Mother ? 4 deaths, all in circa 1875 Father: William Kitchens Mother ? 10 deaths, all in circa 1850 Could there have been 2 disasters in the Kitchens clan? Mick Kitchens. If patience with the living is a virtue then patience with the dead is a necessity.

    2. Claudia, I didn't see your original query so I am not sure what county, city, or town you wrote about, but Richmond Co., Ga. has death certificates from 1907 onward. In some case even early than 1907. Other early large communities like Atlanta and Savannah might also so it would be wise to call the county you are interested and check on when they did start recording their death certificates. << Claudia, Sorry, GA didn't start keeping death records until 1919, so your Daniel Cannady wouldn't be in the index. I could use a few verifications myself for some of my earlier ancestors. Pat >>
