    2. Hi All, Would anyone on the list happen to know if there are "cemetery books" available for either, or both, Montgomery and Tatnall Counties?? If so, are they still in print and available for sale? If anyone has access to one I could really use some assistance on my ggg grandfather. Thanks to all, Nancy

    2. Vivian: Thanks for the site. Checked it out; had no idea Eugenia Price had written so many books. On a recent trip to St Simons, located her grave in the church cemetery that she wrote about so often. Diane

    2. Are you familiar with the author, Eugenia Price? She wrote several books (Savannah Trilogy) and Cassville was mentioned in them. If anyone is interested, I will look up the titles. They're fiction but as you read, you'll recognize numerous names and places in Georgia that you're familiar with. Diane

    3. Good Afternoon, every so often someone raises the question of Bartow County having been known previously as Cass County. Prior to the War Between the States Cass County was mostly rural. According to my source the county center was known as Cassville. Some of the local Georgia Militia groups fought at a place up north named Manassas where the Confederate forces whipped butt. An exuberant Cass county decided to rename the town of Cassville after that battle, thus the town became known as Manassas. Shortly afterward Yankee forces invaded and occupied the Georgia town. In retaliation for the town being named Manassas the "Damn Yankee's" burned the town including many records that had not been removed and hidden prior to the occupation. That is one story. Another story says the town was never named Manassas. I, also, would be glad to hear the truth. I am researching *FAIN* *JONES* *PIERCE* *FRICK*, all living in or near Cassville, GA. 2. According to my copy of the Bartow County Heritage Book, Bartow Co. was once Cass Co., in it was Cassville. There is still a historic Cemetery and other locations with the name Cassville. Someone in who lives in Northern GA, should be able to tell you more. Pat, in Indiana

    3. Cassville is located in Bartow County just 5 or so miles north of Cartersville just off US 41. It was a large town at the time of the War Between the States but is not much more than a little village today. 3. Larry, I hope you are the right Larry Morrison who may have information on the Morrisons from Clay Co. Ala.Just happened to see your name on this list and thought I would take a chance of it being the right one. My ggfather James A. Oliver (b. 1859) calhoun co.al. married Edna Morrison ( b.1863) in Clay Co. March 27,1879. I am trying to find more information on them. James A's father and mother were T.Y. Oliver b.1817 S.C. d.1884 Etowah co. and Mary Catherine b.1828 al. d.1903 Etowah Co. if you have any information on them please share it with me. I have hit a huge brick wall.
