Sorry, Fran. I forgot to check the Early Settlers. >From A List of the Early Settlers of Georgia Curles, Jo. I must be slow...it took me a bit, but I GOT IT! a BIRD in a HAND............now, I gotta laugh outta that. For the record, I also am looking for the family of William Byrd/Bird who married in Georgia and moved to Noxubee county, Ms with his wife, Mary Hudson/Hutson, where she died, and he was appointed guardian of his own children in 1848. sons: Frederick Hudson Byrd/Bird, William Byrd/Bird, John Byrd/Bird, and dau.s: Mary and Elizabeth. Frederick H. Bird married Lousianna Elliot and William Bird married Martha Means in 1851 (I think it was '51...this off the top of my head.) ear
I agree that the responses should be on the list. Perhaps in the subject line at the end of the subject you could put a dash and the surname then people can easily delete if they want w/o opening it, but the rest who are interested can open and read it. (e.g. "NEW STUFF" - Jones) You are performing a very generous service Dee! Thank you so much! Virginia in So. FL
Hi Debbie, What Darlene are you looking for? I am researching: Theophilus Hill, Henry Beverly Gibson and several Henson's in Georgia. Darlene Ralph and Debbie McNabb wrote: > > Darlene, > What Cokers are you researching? > > Debbie
Hello Mr. Armstrong - I'm very interested in reading more about the surnames you've listed below. I look forward to hearing from you. Fran, There are also 9 CURL men (as opposed to CURLES). >From the Roster of the Confederate Soldiers of Georgia, 1861-1865 Muster Roll of Company H, 50th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A., Colquitt County, Georgia, Colquitt Marksman or Colquitt Volunteers Curles, A.J. - Private Mar. 4, 1862 Muster Roll of Company C, 51st Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A., Mitchell County, Georgia, Mitchell Van Guards Curles, Alexander - Private Mch [sic]. 4, 1862. Dee, I would like to see your replies. They are very helpful and if the others don't want to read them, then there is the delete key. I have alot of email from different groups that I have joined, and I like to read them also to see what type of information others are asking for. Keep up the great work that you are doing. This list owner also requests that all questions and replies go out to the list. Items that I do not think need to go out to the list are "sorry none were found" and "thank you". I do hope this clarifies a little. Faye
Dee, I believe that each of us can learn from the questions as well as the answers. I think the service will loose some of its value if we never hear the answers. Sincerely, Pat in TX
Dee, Personally I would like to see the results of the lookup requests on the list. If the subject line reflects the surname, those of us who aren't interested can simply delete them. I have found connections in very unlikely places by reading responses to others requests. Researching KAY, BENNETT, COKER, NEALY/NEELY and others in Georgia. Darlene
oops! forgot to change the subject line . . . Hello there Darlene - Where are your Hill's from ? ? I think the findings that Dee sends should be to the list. This is one resource for finding our female ancestors. No matter what the surname is on the subject I always look at the names of the brides. You never know, it might be one of those female siblings you can't seem to find. Please reconsider because those not interested can delete, especially if everyone would change the SUBJECT to make it applicable to their query. Searching for Alma C. Pearre Cannady born abt 1875 died abt 1915. Thanks Claudia
This is really terrible. I would love to see the Look-up answers. What are we here for? You never know when we may be related to someone in a post. Why is it that some people are just too lazy to use their DELETE keys? Joyce
I also am a list owner with egroups.... I INSIST all REQUESTS AND RESPONSES be done IN LIST..thats what emails lists are for. If my listers don't like that they can do one fo two things..delete the unwanted emails OR UNSUBSCRIBE themselves, they have no need to be part of an email list group....it is NOT a ONE on ONE email list. another reason , we have wonderful archive which can be searched by surname, date, place etc......these emails can help others later on I also do a LOT of look ups for people, and it is hard to send sometiems the same info over and over again to individuals.I won't do it. I'll send to a LIST so anyone researching those same surnames can view it. I have like 8 thousand surnames in my personal database, sometimes I just like to read and see if anything may help. If this IS the policy here, then could someone be kind enough to tell me how to unsub? BTW .......Dee, YOU are doing alot of good work here helping all these people , a list owners dream :) I know it is for the love of genealogy , and the love of people. pat
I would like to see the response posted to the list. A response to someone else may be the answer you're looking for. Maureen in CA > I am sending all the responses privately so you don't get a bunch of e-mails you're not interested in. >
that is a disappointment.we'd be a lOT more interested in the ANSWERS than the QUESTIONS! I for one am disappointed, thats why I am on email lists....one of those answers may have helped me too. thats my 2 cents, guess there sno need to be a member of this list then pat
Just wanted to be sure y'all didn't think I was ignoring you. I am sending all the responses privately so you don't get a bunch of e-mails you're not interested in. It seems like such a waste to type all that information for one person, but I can't think of any other way to handle them. The Ga List prefers that responses go only to the person requesting the information. I've completed about 80 of 310 requests.
