Mary in SC: I'm interested in what you have on the Thompsons in SC. Diane
I solemnly promise, on my honor, to do my duty, to God and my Rootsweb list, to never mention cornmeal to bring up tombstone transcriptions again. Signed in blood, sweat and tears, Judy in Newnan (hanging head in shame)
With the help of this list and some luck at the local library, I am finally chipping at a stainless steel wall. I am working on my great grandmother Lucy Etta Ayers.b 1880 in Ga Possibly Ayersville . I have discovered that her mother was Emily Brandon b 1840 Ga d 1923 SC She was married to O.P or O.F. Ayers . In the 1850 Dekalb County census I see her listed as daughter of William R Brandon. No mother is listed. She had a sister Eugenia b 1838, Sophronia, b 1845, and a brother William b 1848. Emily and O. Ayers had the following children Jane, Mattie, Hannah,Lucy b 1880 and Emily b 1877 and a son B.F. Ayers. Their may have been other children. These are the ones listed in her obit. If any of this rings a bell with anyone------ Thanks Chris

chocolate gravy: 1/2 cup cocoa 2cups sugar 3/4 c flour 1tablespoon vanilla flavoring mix ingredents together well , in enough water to desolve like cake mix, bring 1/2 qt water to boil in large broiler, add choclate and cook till thickens. eat and enjoy . That is the cherokee way.
Is there a website to get info on a hospital in Macon, GA during the War Between the States. An ancestor sepnt some time there. Thanks. Lynda
One last request, please, and then I'll never mention food again. Does anyone know how to make "chocolate gravy", the kind I ate sometimes for breakfast back in the 50s? Jane
JonLou, I wonder if these so-called genealogy researchers know that this List is for genealogy research only and that if they want a cookbook web--then create one. These messages that they are sending now go into the archived files; this really creates a problem because many of them do not change the subject line and the subject and the recipe are in no way understandable for those who later go into archived files and find this. Also it bogs down the archived files with volume which takes so much more reserach time. Hi, I was recently in Edgefield where I found the graves of some of my relatives in Old Horne Creek Baptist Churchyard and Ebenezer Baptist Churchyard in Trenton. Unfortunately the Historical Society in Edgefield was closed. I hope to return in November and hopefully they will be open. The names are Bettis, Tillman, Swearingen,Norris, Bouknight,Wilson,Robertson, Hearin,Lott, and Harrison. The last three names show up in NC, Va. and Ala. The Bettis family, except for John and Mary's son Francis, along with members of the Swearingen and Robertson families sold their land to Francis and migrated to Clarke Co. Ala. in 1817. Do you have any information on any of these families. Also would you know where Lott's Landing is or was located? Thanks, Earlyne Bettis Woodward Chloe1236@AOL.com
I'd love the recipe for fried cornbread, if you have time. Thank you, Earlyne Chloe1236@AOL.com
