WILLIS, Chatham Co., Savannah City 1826 tax digest MARY E. WILLIS, Chatham Co., p45 I think she may be my 3rd great grandmother. If so she had a son Andrew Jackson Willis b. 1815. She would have been born about 1785-90. Family legend says her husband was a soldier who died young and she moved with her children from Ga. to Franklin Co., Ala after 1826 as she appears in the 1830 Census in Alabama. I do not have access to the actual tax list/digest. If anyone can do a look up to see if there is other information I would appreciate it. I am hoping to confirm her as the mother of Andrew Jackson Willis and find her husband's name. thanks for any help Gary ---------- Gary Hester/Alabama E-Mail: [email protected] My Website: http://personal.atl.bellsouth.net/lig/g/l/glhester/index.html Researching Surnames: ALLEN, BAKER, BARLOW, BLASINGEM, BOLTON, CHAMBLEE, DENTON, DOLBEAR, FREE, GRAHAM, HESTER, HUGHES, JONES, MALONE, MCNATT, MCRAE, MILLER, MEISENHEIMER, MOORE, POUNDERS, RICHARDSON, SMITH, SPARKS, TERRY, TURNER, WILLIS, WOODRUFF. ----------

    3. Thank you. I couldn't find an email address either. Which is too bad. I mean, if you need help with an order..... anyhow, I'm thinking that the book was cited wrong. I've searched high and low and far and wide. I've come to think that the book is probably Annals of Georgia Vol II compiled by Caroline Price Wilson. The reference to what I am looking for was probably noted by the gen author P.A. Strobel in 1848. This book IS in fact located at the Georgia Archives and I'm going this Saturday to take a peek and see. It's the only thing I can think of as the book cited simply does not exist, or at least appears not to. The benefit here is that I actually have a page number to look in. So, that will save me loads of time. :-) Thanks Glenna and to all others who responded. I appreciate it very much!
