I noticed on your site, you state "do not send attachments without prior approval." Does this include .jpeg pictures? Do we first write you and receive approval for each picture we'd like to send? I have updated the home page to include hopefully, helpful instructions for sending the photos to me: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/photo/send.html Yes, photos should be jpg, & yes, write me prior to sending--you can say "I am sending X number of photos over the next several days" Then make sure to include a short write up, and **very important**--what ocunty they should be listed in. For now, it will make it easier on me if you send one photo at a time. I am so very good,--near perfect--at making mistakes, that this method seems to help! Thanks to all that are sending these wonderful items. "A picutre is worth a thousand words!" Bettie <>< > I noticed on your site, you state "do not send attachments without prior > approval." Georgia AHGP just received two awards from Hogan's Hutch of Usual & Unusual Sites. In Lou Hogan's message he said that it is "a very impressive, and beautifully designed site. You should be very proud; it's sites like yours that make the Web great. " Don't mean to brag, but first award that I have ever received. Howdy all, Remember the Family Group Sheet Project? http://www.rootsweb.com/~garichmo/groupindx.html There are at least 1130 now online, with a search engine that just searches the most recent uploads. Now there is a way to enhance this project with another new project! The GAGenWeb's Georgia Archives & I are pleased to announce a Georgia Photo Album. I can link your photos to a group sheet, & can link the photos back to a group sheet. This gives a group sheet more personality, don't you think? Come join in on the fun--some folks already have! Have a great day! Bettie <>< -- Even Moses was once a basket case, so don't give up! -- http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbosqu2/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~garichmo/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~gawalton/ http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~gary/ GA-FGS: http://www.rootsweb.com/~garichmo/groupindx.html -- All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton 2002, http://www.symantec.com/
Virginia If this is just straight forward typing that you want, I can probably help with this. Living in California I do not have access to many Georgia records but if you get the copies I could do it. >>Why are there 2 sets of county pages for GA? Why have various counties in other states set up separate county pages, moving data away from rootsweb? What really goes on here? Anyone have the REAL scoop? << American History and Genealogy Project (AHGP) is an unincorporated, not-for-profit network of independent sites devoted to History & Genealogy. We are dedicated to FREE access to Genealogy information on the internet. AHGP volunteers will not place contributed material in a book, a CD or sell that information to a third party. The information remains the property of the original compiler/owner and can only be removed from the site by that person. The original compiler/owner owns the copyright to the material. As far as moving the information away from RootsWeb, if you will notice many of the AHGP sites are on RootsWeb. The GA State page for AHGP just happen to be on USGenNet when I took over in January and I left it there. I host Haralson County and Co-Host Floyd County, they are both on RootsWeb. I appreciate RootsWeb, USGenNet and the other web host that provide Free space for these worthwhile projects. Also, if you go to the GA GenWeb County page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gagenweb/table.htm you will notice that not all of the sites are on RootsWeb. Some people prefer one web host over another. Why two sets of county pages for GA (and other states)? Actually there are more than just two. Some people like one above another, just like they like one brand of car above another brand. That is what makes America so great. The freedom to choose when buying a car or looking for your roots. Personally when I am looking for my "Brick Wall" relatives, I look at all the different sources, no matter where they are. I need all the help that I can get. If you need more information about GA AHGP, please contact me privately at [email protected] I am sure that one of the GA GenWeb people would also be willing to "talk" to you privately.
