Hi Wesley! The name of GNANN is correctly pronounced "Gah Nan" with the accent on the "Nan" and that spelling is from the original settlers of the Salzburgers at Ebenezer. Quite a few GNANN names in Effingham and surrounding counties. My 8th grade teacher at Myers Jr High School in Savannah was named GNANN. For a great look at heritage of families with the GNANN and other names, look at the book "Georgia Salzburger and Allied Families" by Pearl Rahn GNANN. Copies are from Southern Historical Press, c/o Rev. Emmett Lucas, Jr., PO Box 738, Easley, SC 29640.
