David N. Brock, b. 7 Jun 1829, d. 17 Mar 1899 in Texas married Mary E. Davis, b. 19 Nov 1831, d. 6 Jun 1910 in Texas, abt. 1850 likely in Carroll county GA. He was a C.S.A. soldier from that county. He is thought to have had parents William Brock and Mary E. Davis likely married in Carroll county GA. William obviously must have died prior to 1846, Mary re-marrying George Watson on 12 Nov 1846 in Carroll county GA. She, without William but with some of her children, appears in the same household in the 1850 Carroll county census. Perhaps George had also died shortly after their marriage. Mary's family had moved to Henderson county Texas prior to the WBtheS, her elder brother William having been a C.S.A. soldier from that county and later being its sheriff for several terms. He had lost his right arm in battle and had attained the rank of sergeant in the C.S.A.. He is buried in Henderson county as are many of his other family members. David and Mary, along with their adult children and many other unrelated families moved to the newly formed Cullman county AL in late 1800s. Several of their children had married prior to moving to AL. Their only daughter, Sarah Jane had married Berry T. Rains, having one son Robert, but she died from a fire prior to the family move to AL. Mary was the daughter of George R. and Jane (unk) Davis. He died in Feb 1863 but it is not known if as a result of the War Between the States. Jane had moved to Texas and died there 23 Feb 1886 where she is buried iin Henderson county. I am seeking earlier information of each of these earliest persons and families above indicated. Surely I am not the only Carroll county family researcher that is working on any or all of these family members. -- Richard Brock 6726 River Mill Drive Klein (Houston), Texas 77379-4161 ph: 281 251 8682 e/m: [email protected]
