I am working with a city council person who is helping me to get a requirement placed in the City of East Point's Zoning Code which is currently being re-drafted. It is a requirement that developers provide a buffer around any cemetery they are building around in the city. (No, the state does not require it, only tells them they have to leave it undisturbed). The state says that while they do not require developers to provide a distance or a physical buffer, that City's and Counties can make it a requirement by placing it in the local code. Here is what I need... Does anyone on this list know of a georgia CITY or COUNTY, ( A City is prefered) that has taken measures to add protections for cemeteries in their zoning code? Moreover, buffer requirements. I need to contact that city and get a copy of their draft to see how they worded it so that the council person I am working with can use it as an example as far as the wording goes. Thanks. http://www.geocities.com/eastpointcemeteries/heritage.html
