There are several web sites that have tried to do a similar project. The Georgia Veteran web site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gavets/ is the official web site for the GA-Veterans Mailing List. The Georgia Cemetery and Volunteer List at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gacemete/ is the official web site for the GA-Cemeteries Mailing List. The Georgia section of the Tombstone Transcription Project is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/georgia/georgia.html These plus several more were great ideas, but after the initial boost they lost "interest" and the volunteers stopped submitting the information. To make any project a good one, we need the CONTINUED support of the volunteers submitting the transcripts and DEDICATED webmasters to post the submissions. But most volunteers and webmasters have full time jobs and all though their intentions are good, their personal lives have to take priority sometimes.
