I read your very interesting article about Lamar Griffin and his cemetery work in Putnam county. I am looking for the exact location (GNIS) of a cemetery I went to many years ago near Milner Georgia. I tried to find it with the GNIS locator page (http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form) but couldn't find it using Settle or Farley, Georgia, Lamar or Monore. Here is the information I have on it. John M Settle is my 2nd great grandfather Settle Family Cemetery, also called the Farely cemetery, on the Farley place, near Milner, Lamar Co GA; copied by the DAR; FHL film 0848575 item 2 I visited this cemetery myself, Feb 21 1980 It is on the Barneville-Jackson highway about 6 miles east of Milner GA, one mile east of Liberty Hill community at the fork of the Jackson & High Falls road division, on the north side of the road, out in a grove of trees surrounded by a farmer' crop. At that time, only Fannie Moreland Settle and John M Settle's grave markers found. At least 10 other unmarked graves there. They had cement mounds with mussell shells embedded into the cement, now all broken up by the honeysuckle vines. This information from the DAR survey: William Wood Settle b 27 Jan 1843 died 22 Feb 1876 in Butts Co GA his wife, Nancy Watkins Settle died 19 Jul 1937 in Butts Co GA These graves above ground and with a cement slab on top--Masonic symbol on this one: John M Settle born 4 Dec 1802 died 24 Apr 1855 Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord consort of John M Settle, Fannie Moreland died Jul 27 1879 aged about 80 years I also wondering if this is included on any survey of the county cemetery listings? Thanks very much, Pat Lowe Woodbury Minnesota
