The Sylvester Cemetery Foundation will be conducting tours of the cemetery as part of the Battle of Atlanta celebrations in East Atlanta (BATL) tomorrow morning (July 22nd). We're conducting three tours at 10 , 10:45, and 11:30 AM. I'll probably be conducting the 10 and 11:30 ones, and Dennis Taylor will probably be doing the 10:45 (we haven't really finalized that, but either of us can give a good talk). Tickets are $10.00 in advance at East Atlanta Ace Hardware, Traders (on Flat Shoals) and the Sabra Gallery (also on Flat Shoals). It's $15.00 at the beginning of the tour. We plan on using this as a kickoff for conducting regular tours. People who haven't seen the cemetery in a few years will be astonished at the progress we've made. I'm sorry about the short notice. The BATL folks have been largely handling the publicity, and it just occured to me that folks on this list may be interested. Since the theme is the Battle, I'll be emphasizing the graves of Civil War vets, but I'll also include other prominent families and individuals (Fiddlin John Carson, the Browns, Terrys, McWilliams's, Thurmans, Warrens, Jake Hall, etc).
