    3. Laurie, I do not know of one group working to catalogue and protect cemeteries in GA. There are several that do come to mind but Georgia has so many cemeteries it would take a massive club or organization to even scratch the surface. At SavingGraves we depend on you and me and others to catalogue , clean and insure our cemeteries so they will be protected for many , many generations. Lots of groups take care of particular cemeteries and they are angels. If you have the energy, time, please volunteer at a cemetery after you learn a few rules of the preservationist. We need people like you to help us save GA cemeteries. If I can be of any assistance please let me know. 1. Cemetery Project
    2. Hi All, I have started some state cemetery sites (or in the case of Oklahoma, am just an area coordinator for 4 counties). A friend of mine, Kim Hendrix, is doing some other states, also. If you will go to any of these states (except Oklahoma) you will find a link to all the states that we are doing. Our goal is to get every cemetery and every headstone photo on line! Huge undertaking, but with the help of tons of wonderful people, we can do it. I know, you are saying there are lots of other sites out there. That is true, but does it hurt to have one more. The more information that is out there, the easier it will be to link up with a relative and enlarge our family trees, right? So, if you have information that you would like to submit for a cemetery, or, you would like to "adopt" a county , please let me know. 3. Hi Peggy, I am interested in your project! I just clicked the link though, and the site was not found. Maybe you're just doing some maintenance at the moment. You definitely have an admirable goal with this project. Do you have specific plans to accomplish the goal, or is it kind of a "build it and they will come" plan? My only concern is that we already have Find A Grave, Interment.net, and lots of county rootsweb sites out there with good collections of cemeteries and associated tombstone photos and/or transcriptions. Won't this create double work by having another repository? There is also a Georgia Tombstone Transcription Project at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/georgia/georgia.html which is part of the USGenWeb Tombstone Photo Project. I'm planning on visiting Terrell County, GA next Sunday to do some surveys. I'm glad to donate them to this list if you like. I live in Smyrna, GA, a suburb of Atlanta, and I have plenty of Georgia ancestors. I also have several tombstone photos and transcription links on my website at www.roots2buds.net. Feel free to browse through. Thanks for letting us know of your new site!
