His name was Nelson A. Rucker and he was a private in Company A, 24th Texas Cavalry. I'd like to learn where Confederate dead from Rome were typically buried. I've seen a burial list on the internet for Myrtle Hill Cemetery. He was not on this list. I am not sure if this list was complete however. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I will review it and compare info of what I already have. I have been studying the time period of his death, although curious why they show he died in 1780 when it was actually 1779 per Sav GA Newspaper Clippings,(Ga. Gazette) Vol II, page 182. With Savannah taken over by the British in earlier it must have been tough times living there. Who knows he may have been killed by the Sons of Liberty group dressed as Indians, as the Masons did on the night of the Boston Tea Party. I continue to try to find more information about him and the social history of this period. Thanks again. Charles

    3. Gabby, For North Fulton, which is the old Milton County, you can find a copy of the book "Milton County, Georgia Cemeteries" by Phillip B. Anglin. It was published in 2002 by Gateway Press in Baltimore. It includes excellent surveys of cemeteries north of the Chattahoochee River in modern Fulton County, including grave positions and GPS coordinates. For the rest of Fulton County, there is no comprehensive cemetery book. You can go to the Atlanta History Center or the Georgia Archives and look in the Garrett Necrology, by Franklin Garrett. This is an unpublished manuscript collection of cemetery surveys, obituaries, and death certificates around the Atlanta area in the 1930s. He was selective in his work and there are many gaps. He did not record any information about black cemeteries. However, for the white population, and even with its flaws, the Garrett Necrology is still a massive amount of information and is a very good resource. I have never seen a comprehensive list of cemeteries in Fulton County although the major ones are in the GNIS database. Paul K. 3. Back in the old days when my eyesight was good and I could scramble up and down the GA ridges, I did a good bit of legwork/research on this family for a Eugene Perry in California. As a result, I have several Dawson County cemetery transcriptions, but as I recall, I never did find markers for this couple. Eugene decided back then that they were more than likely buried in what was then called the Thompson Cemetery in Dawson County. If anyone on the list has a copy of a survey of the Thompson Cemetery, perhaps they will check to see if there's a listing for William Horton and Artimissa Perry. Good luck, Linda in Marietta ----- Original Message ----- From: fdissmeyer@plantationcable.net To: GA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, May 06, 2006 1:36 PM Subject: [GA-CEM] Searching for Cemetery in Dawson County GA This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. If you still need the pictures let me know and I will be going to Bonaventure this week to do some research for someone else. Right now I am in the process of posting to Ancestry a family tree for the Burgstiner/Burgsteiner families. Since it is so large it will take me several months to get all the info I have. Danny Burgstiner is very ill and gave me all of his records from his father Daniel and the one's he had also accumulated. I am once again active with Ancestry.com and tryin my best to get this extensive family tree posted for others. Contact me through my e-mail account if you still need these pictures.
