There is an Arlington cem. in the Sandy Springs area of Atlanta. Is this the one you are referring? Send me what you need and I can try to find it next week, I live close. Martha Vickery Bryan Roswell, Ga. [email protected]
Can anyone help? Arlington Cemetery in ATlanta did not respond last year or this year again when I asked for the people buried with John R. GRay. I sent paper and a SASE both times. Is this an abandoned cemetery? Or small without a full time staff? Anything I can learn would help. Thanks Joan Gray Straka [email protected]
Can anyone tell me please where John and Hester Crider are buried? I also need to verify death dates as I have John M. Crider as November 11, 1959 and Hester R. (Sisson or Boyd?) Crider as September 22, 1961. Need any help I can get as it seems like all the Crider's named their kids the same names just like every one of my other families. :-) Thanks, Paula http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/whitfield/
Elizabeth E. Prince Garmon--Burial location Can anyone help me in locating the burial location of my ggrandmother Elizabeth E. ( Betsy ) Prince Garmon? She died in 1872. Does anyone have an index record of the people buried in the cemeteries in Pierce County. I am searching for the burial record of Larkin Francis Garmon. He was living alone and 63 years old according to the 1900 census of Pierce County, Ga. I believe he would be buried in this area. Thank you.
Dear List Members, The First Quarterly Report for 2002 is going to be just a little different than the one I usually send to the Mailing Lists I take care of. I tore my Rotator Cuff in November of last year and I find that I cannot spend long hours typing on the computer during the healing process, therefore I am going to send out one message to all of my lists and skip posting the membership numbers this time. I promise to get back to our normal reporting next quarter. Typing over 200 messages is just more than this shoulder and arm can take. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. [email protected] 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. If you do notice that one of our members has a virus, please do not post their name and e-mail address across the list. Let me know and I will take care of the problem. Most likely the member already knows and is in a major state of stress. Receiving messages of each of us will only cause his or her stress level to rise. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any Rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will receive an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at [email protected] I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. Doris, Thank you! I have one Whitfield County Cemetery online that is complete but I am working on info for several more including a lot of photos. If anyone has any information that they would like to contribute they may send it to me and I will post it for them. Whitfield County could not have won this award without the help of a lot of people that are researching their Whitfield County Roots. Hats off to all of them! Congratulations to Whitfield County and Paula Franklin for winning the first Golden Peach Award. The "race" was very close with three counties tied until the last minute. The judges had a very hard decision, but when all the votes were tabulated, Paula and Whitfield County was the winner. The GA AHGP Golden Peach Award is presented to a Georgia County for excellence in ongoing research in History and Genealogy. The Whitfield County site can be found at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/whitfield/ Congratulation Paula for your tireless efforts. Hello listers. Can someone tell me if there are cemetery listings up online for Burke County & Screven County. ? There is an old cemetery called Parramore Hill, which lies in an area betweeen these two counties that is now a newer County [Jenkins, perhaps?] I wonder if anyone has read Paramore Hill. Hillcrest Cemetery. East Point, Ga. My Organization is called "Family and Friends of Hillcrest Cemetery" and we are working to not only preserve this historic cemetery but are advocating to protect the cemetery records that are currently being held by the owner who has abandoned the cemetery. Family members and genealogist are being denied access to these records unless the pay a gross over charge. We need help freeing these records so that family members, Genealogists, Funeral directors and anyone else with an interest can have access to them. Please sign our online petition to the City council to encourage them to help free the records. http://www.webpetitions.com/cgi-bin/print_petition.cgi?0228210260 Family and Friends of Hillcrest Cemetery web site. http://www.geocities.com/hillcrest_ep/index.html
Hi, We have a fight going on in East Point to preserve Hillcrest cemetery. Right now, the burial records are in danger and are being held from public access by the owner. We are fighting to not only get the records in the hands of a responsible party for the family members access, but to also allow genealogists access. Family and Friends of Hillcrest Cemetery requests your help as genealogists with an interest in Georgia cemeteries to help and preserve your right and the right of other genealogists to obtain recorded burial information concerning Hillcrest Cemetery located on Stanton Road in East Point, Ga. Even if you do not have ancestors buried in Hillcrest We urge you to help us make sure that the records are made available to family members who need them to expedite a burial as well as for use by genealogists and family researchers. We would like to request that you email the East Point City Council members and the mayor and encourage them to continue to pursue the cemetery records from the cemetery owner who has abandoned the cemetery but refuses to release the records . The records are only made available to family members when a $200.00 fee is paid for access to them. The family members are forced to pay this fee if they need to find the grave for a pending burial. Genealogists and family researcher are often refused access. When you email the council, remember that they are wanting to help but will need FRIENDLY encouragement. We ask that your email remind them that these records are paramount to the preservation of the cemetery and its history and are of great value and should be made accessible. Please be sure to mention that you feel that the records should be seized along with any real property taken from the owner. We also request that you ask the council to stay on top of the city attorney to complete the legal research that they have requested regarding the cemetery. Below are the email addresses to the council. We thank you for your assistance. Steven K. Bramlett. It looks like (without a miracle) I won't be able to come. I am moving back "home" to Fairburn. Or at least closer to home, on the 6th, and fully expect to be both exhausted and terribly busy trying to find stuff. IF this does not turn out to be true, and all is put away and organized (HA!) I'll be there. Notice to family members of Hillcrest Cemetery located on Stanton Road in East Point, Georgia. On Sunday, April 7, 2002 Family and Friends of Hillcrest Cemetery will host an Historical Tour of the cemetery to help with community awareness and involvement. Family member involvement is essential so that those community members that do not have genealogical ties to the cemetery will be able to see the faces and hear the stories of family members giving them a more intimate picture of the people and families that they are helping through their continued involvement. The tour will be followed by a Volunteer Litter Pick up. The Litter pick up will help assist our sister organization "Hillcrest Memorial Association.Inc" in the up coming full scale maintenance that is planned. If you are unable to attend and live near by, Litter picks may be performed at your discretion in your spare time and would be greatly appreciated. Refreshments will be provided. Place: Hillcrest Cemetery on Stanton Rd. East Point Ga 30344. Date: Sunday, April 7th, 2002. Time: 11:00 A.M. For those of you that may want to contact us for look ups, we can't do that because the cemetery records are being held hostage by the owner who has abandoned the cemetery. We are currently working with the East Point City Council to include the records in a levy of the real holdings of the owner. We will provide email addresses to the city council members as well as the mayor on this list in a few days and request that you partake in an email campaign telling them that these records should be placed in the hands of someone who cares and that they are available at no charge to family members and descendants of those resting in the cemetery. While we cannot do lookups because we do not have access to the records, we do catalog the names through requests and if they are seen within the cemetery on one of our visits, we will contact you. We ask that the requests be limited to those that know for certain that the grave requested is in fact located in the cemetery. Hillcrest hold over 4000 grave sites and is very large in scale. Some areas are inaccessible that this time. Official website with more information about the tour. http://www.geocities.com/hillcrest_ep/index.html Telephone contact: Steven K. Bramlett 404-762-0940. Thanks for your time and we hope to see you there.

Hi Mary. In an effort to help you, I checked my book on Meriwether cemeteries for "Tinney", however I did not find the surname listed even once. Sorry I couldn't help you. Good luck in your searching. Gus Hipp
