This is to Debbie and others on this list. . . . apparently my post was misconstrued by some to think I had the death registers for "all" of GA, but I was replying to someone's need for a death in Chatham County. I have the Chatham County death registers from 1753-1863 only, but not the whole state of GA. Sorry for the miscimmunications of the post. :-) Bob Carter Greensboro, NC ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debbie Pentecost-McNabb" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, July 19, 2002 8:35 AM Subject: Re: [GA-CEM] Old cemeteries > Bob, > Thanks for the generous offer. Bob, Will you, please, look up Thomas Bell and his wife, Mahala? I don't know when they died. Their son, William Pinkney Bell, was born in SC. They moved to GA in 1848. Thanks for anything especially your time! Neda in VA
I am searching for my great grandparents who probly lived near Oakridge community area near Greenville, Ga. 1860 census. No they are my great, great grandparents. Their dau. Mary F. Collins was my great grandmother. Can you help me. Mary Elizabeth Hill
You might try contacting the Chattooga County Historical Society as I know they have many of the cemeteries recorded. I don't think they have a web site but can get you their regular mailing address if you're interested. Their original intentions were to publish a cemetery book but don't think they have got around to getting that done yet. I sent Vera some info about a lot of Bains who are buried in MS. A lot of them are buried in the Carson Ridge Cemetery in Attala County. The Carson Ridge Cemetery site is really a neat site. Since so many of our ancestors were in GA and moved to AL, MS, LA, and TX to points further west, some of you may have ancestors buried in Carson Ridge. For DeKalb Co., GA, the DeKalb GenWeb Tombstone Project has quite a few listings. Also available is the DeKalb Historical Society Database of the surveys completed by the late Franklin Garrett who surveyed all cemeteries within a 30 mile radius of Atlanta in 1930 and 1931. For the rest of the cemeteries, you can contact the Atlanta Historical Society. They have his surveys on microfilm. Theresa

Hi, Thank you so much for the information, I just looked at the information my aunt gave me and that looks like her. My grandmother (Blanche) passed away before I was born and I am despritely trying to trace back her heritage. I was told that she was Native American and I that I look exactly like her. Crystal, it might help someone to help you if you listed the county in which she died. Are you in GA? This person should be listed on the GA death index if they died within the state. That would give you information whereby you could order a death certificate. Hopefully her birth place, parents and their birthstates will be listed on the certificate... along with the name of her spouse. I think this GA death index is online now but not sure. HI, A reminder that the clean up of the Historical section of Hillcrest Cemetery located in East Point, Ga. Fulton County on Stanton Rd. will be held this Saturday starting at 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon. (We will begin to assemble at 9:30 A.M.) If you live in Georgia and can make it, we will be happy to meet you! Genealogist who need to find a grave that you know for sure is in the cemetery, I will be able to assist you after the clean up starting at 12:00 noon. You do not have to attend and work for me to help you in this area. We will hopefully be able to direct those needing to find a grave to the right area according to death date and will help you search if you so wish. (No charge for any of our services) (This is a good time to come since we will be there at a specific time and are prepared to do this) We do not have the records of those buried in Hillcrest and cannot help genealogists and family researchers in that area but WE WILL HELP! If you know for certain that your ancestors grave is located in Hillcrest, we will do on site searches to find it. We will even meet you there to help you search. If you live in Ga. or will be in town at one point. This offer always stands, but saturday is open as well. Thanks, Steven. Family and Friends of Hillcrest Cemetery. Hey, I received an email and it had this address on it, so I was wondering if you had a death record for a Blanch(Blanche) Sapp she died around 1973-1974. I know where is buried at but I'm trying to research my family heritage and I can't find any marriage License or death records. I even searched the ssi index and found nothing. If you have any information that would be great. If you don't maybe you or someone else reading this may know how I could find out more and help me get started. I feel like giving up because every time I try I don't get anywhere. Crystal Sapp

Hello Stark, Thank you for looking in the Alanta paper for my JONES/WEIDINGER wedding. I don't understand why there is nothing there because they were married in Atlanta. WHo knows why? :-( I can check the census if you give me dates for your St. Louis people. And I will keep it on hand for the next time I get to the court house. It's downtown and I don't get down there very often. I hate driving downtown St. Louis. Are you near a LDS Family History Center? Pat
