Hello list; In May 12, 1921, my grandfather Russell Louis PRESNELL bought a lot 28 M E. from Magnolia Cemetery Company, 1001 Empire or Atlanta Trust Co. Bldg, Atlanta, GA. On January 1, 1922 he paid it off, and the Warranty Deed 1195655 was files at 12:30 PM February 19, 1951 and recorded in book 2611 Folio 114 on February 22, 1951 in the Fulton county courthouse. Here is where the mystery I have begins: Russell Louis Presnell, born 18 July 1884, Stevenson, Jackson, AL and died 29 Oct 1926, Atlanta, Fulton, GA. I think he is buried in that lot 28E of Magnolia Cemetery. The deed date is 4 years before, but it was recorded 5 months before his wife died. His wife: Margaret Emma (Allen) Presnell, born 15 April 1879, Paint Rock, Jackson, AL and died 21 July 1951, Atlanta, Fulton, GA. She was buried 24 July 1951, Magnolia Cemetery, Atlanta, Fulton, GA. Is she buried with him? Of the 8 children, 3 also died in GA, and 2 in Atlanta, Fulton, GA. The other 5 are in various parts of CA and that is another search there. Mable Irene (Presnell) Long Born 23 April 1910, Paint Rock, Jackson, AL and died 4 February 1989, Atlanta, Fulton, GA. Her husband, William C. Long, a retied Army officer, may also be with her here. Harry Grady Presnell, born 3 June 1917, Atlanta, Fulton, GA and died in August 1976, Atlanta, Fulton, GA. His wife (unknown) may be with him. James "Alvie" Alvin Presnell, born 20 June 1912, Atlanta, Fulton, GA and died 14 August 1993, Morrow, Clayton, GA. His last wife (3) Frances R. may be with him. I have found on a map where the Magnolia Cemetery is located, but I am on the west coast. Magnolia Cemetery is in NW Atlanta - Marietta St. turns into Perry Blvd. Continue down Perry Blvd. until it dead-ends into Hollywood Rd. Take a left on Hollywood. About 1/2 mile on the right is where the cemetery is located. There is no listing of the names on the county site that I can find. I have searched the Yellow and White pages for the Magnolia Cemetery Company without any luck. Searching the USGenWep Project files only comes up with his brother Enoch and wife Mary Ann (Allen) buried in Roseland Cemetery, East Point, Fulton, GA. Is there anyone that can check the Magnolia cemetery an see how many of my kin folk are there? Thank you for any help you may offer. Clarence

Beat died in South Carolina, you will need to look for his burial location in that state. This list is for Georgia Cemeteries. Thanks, Winn Rebsamen, Hans b: 21 DEC 1727 in Turbenthal, Canton Zurich, Switzerland d: 5 JUL 1797 in Richland County, South Carolina Rebsamen, Beat b: 14 MAY 1720 in Turbenthal, Canton Zurich, Switzerland d: 24 OCT 1782 in Camden District, Kershaw County, South Carolina Turnipseed, Felix b: 22 SEP 1789 in Camden District, Kershaw County, South Carolina d: 22 FEB 1866 in Newberry County, South Carolina Turnipseed, Felix B. b: 18 FEB 1830 Hans (John) Rebsamen immigrated in 1751 with his brother Beat Rebsamen. Hans arrived on the ship "Nptune". He applied for a "headright" of 50 acres, stating that he was a foreign Protestant. He received a grant on Broad Creek on April 6, 1753 which had been surveyed on May 1, 1752. On May 14, 1764 he received 150 acres on the north side of Broad River and in December 3, 1766, 100 more acres on the Little River. He filed a claim for services provided during the Revolutionary War stating that on February 15, 1782 he fed nine men and guarded nine horses belonging to the regiment of Colonel Hopkins. On March 13, 1782, he sold bacon and flour to a group belonging to General Pickin's Regiment. He was involved in an attempt to incorporate a Lutheran church on Cedar Creek in 1782 and 1787. In 1790 he was living in Camden Dristrict, Richland County, South Carolina and using the name John Turnipseed. The word "rebsamer" apparently translates approximately as "turnipseed". He died at home in July 1797 leaving a widow and seven children. Another Turnipseed/Rebsamen family, that of Beat Rebsamen, is often confused with that of Hans or John Rebsamen. Apparently Beat and Hans were brothers and immigrated at the same time. Beat Rebsamen married Margreta Kinsler and lived on the Broad River in Camden District. He died October 1782 and left a will that listed his children. The will gave Hans Beat 150 acres, Jacob Turnipseed 200 acres, Felix Turnipseed 250 acres and his daughter Maria Margreta, who married Phillip Shaver, 150 Pounds in South Carolina currency. Another son, Samuel, is also on the list. Individuals of this family used the same names as that of Hans. They or their descendants left South Carolina and moved west to Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi in what was known as "The Great Migration".
Please help me locate the grave of my great great great grandfather Beat Rebsamen Turnipseed. He died i n l78l Kathryn Turner kturner27@earthlink.net EarthLink Revolves Around You.

Dear List Members, If you are interested in knowing about other genealogical mailing list available, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any Rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. If you are having problem and I do not answer you right away, know that I will. I like many of you work full time outside of my home. I am fortunate that I can check my e-mail any time I wish, but know that there are spaces of time I cannot. I always check my e-mail each and every evening and will respond to message as quickly as possible. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. When posting a query regarding a surname it would help all of us if you would put your surname in CAPS. This way the members can easily pick out the surnames you are looking for. On the other hand when the entire message is in CAPS we feel that we are being yelled at. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now, the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting from one from one of us. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. 7. If your list has the gateway open, meaning the messages posted on the board also hit he list, know that every once in a while a SPAM message that is caught by the Board filter slips through the gateway and hits the list before it can be stopped. JUST DELETE IT. By responding to the list regarding he offending message, you just continue it on, and there is not one thing I can do about it at that point. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me.
