This is just to let you know the RootsWeb mailing lists are functioning again. You may now post any questions you may have been sitting on while they were not. The Archives are being re-populated, but due to their size, it is going to take some time to complete. This post should initiate that process. For detailed information on working with the new list software, see <http://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/listindexes/listsHelp>

Seeking the family of Frank Music, buried at Antioch United Methodist Church on Rivertown Rd in Fairburn. Our church is getting ready to do some renovations on the cemetery. Mr Music's tombstone is sinking and will soon be below ground level. Anyone with family buried there is welcome to email me for information on the plans as they come together. As funds permit, our wish list is: install fill dirt use Ground Penetrating Radar to locate unmarked graves install some sort of permanent marker for graves with no lettered stone provide a path or road to the rear of the cemetery remove trees to open more land and provide more sun for grass and the prevention of mold on the stones. investigate the possibility of a retaining wall of some sort Thank you for sharing this information. Try contacting the Southern Poverty Law assoc in Montgomery, AL (lawyer Morris Dees' civil rights group), and asked them. Keep us updated. Was it moved for Lake Allatoona or was it just destroyed? This cemetery was located just north of Sweetwater Creek and just west of Lake Allatoona. Today, this area is part of the Sweetwater Campgrounds and has roads running through it. It was at 34.195937, -84.579950. The Brooke/Brooks family owned the land around Knox Bridge and west where Know Campground is. Some of the family is buried at Sixes Methodist Church off Bell's Ferry Rd. and south of Sixes Rd. I'm trying to identify the location in an old family photo from about 1912. It was taken in front of what appears to be a small mausoleum, unfortunately the name on the building is not readable but may begin with an "M"; perhaps "Mark" or "Mary". There is a middle initial and the last name appears to be 4-5 letters in length. I suspect it was taken in Chattooga Co. as the family lived near Teloga at that time. The only two mausoleums I found so far are in Summerville Cemetery and a fairly modern one at Bethlehem Baptist Church - neither one matches my photo. Does anyone out there know of any other mausoleums anywhere in Chattooga or maybe Walker County that would be older than 1912? I know this is a real longshot but I am hoping someone with more local knowledge than me might recall such a structure. Thanks in advance!!! Thurmond Tanner Rd is in Hall County, Ga. There is an excellent genealogy section in the Chestatee Regional LIbrary in Gainesville. There was a comprehensive cemetery survey done in the 60's or 70's. There has been a lot of industrial development in that area (South Hall), but I think you could find a good bit of information there in Hall County. ----- Original Message ----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com To: GA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, January 3, 2015 4:36:33 PM Subject: Re: [GA-CEMETERIES] Mary "Polly" Phinazee Reed burial site This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I have found that Lt. Francis is his 4th great grandfather's brother. We are located Lt. Tennille's grave and took a picture. The location is the 1000 block of Linton Rd, Warthen, Washington Co, GA. It is about 200 yards off the road in the woods. We walked until we found him. His stone is still legible. He is buried there with members of the Murphy family. The cemetery is not being cared for and is quite overgrown. I put the picture of the tombstone on Find A Grave.com. I have enjoyed researching this entire family. They seem to have been true patriots and pioneers of this county. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
