I just started looking up this line a few months ago. Peter Furlong d. Oct 27, 1869(mother Isabel Furlong) married Martine Robichaud (b. 1844) on Jan 30, 1866 in Cape Breton and they had 2 daughters: Elizabeth and Catherine(my gr8grandmother). Elizabeth married ??? Ronayne Catherine married Alfred Rowley in Halifax in 1903 and they had 5 children. Martine Robichaud then married George Wincey in Cape Breton(after Peter died) on July 19, 1875. I don't think this info is any help to you but you never know. Happy Hunting, Valerie

My great-grandfather, Samuel, was born in Maryland around 1840-1841, (exact county unknown), but ended up in Miami County, Ohio, married Christina Reid there in 1870; they raised their family there, and both died and buried in Pleasant Hill, Ohio (Miami County). To date, I have not learned his parent's names nor his siblings, aunts, uncles, etc. It sounds as if you have the nearest info to his family that I have found so far. I saw the listing of Peter and Sarah Cain Furlong and their children, and feel that perhaps you might be able to give me additional info on who the ancestors of Peter Furlong might be----Perhaps he could be a cousin or some close relative of Samuel. By the way, Miami County is the county which borders Montgomery Co to the North (Dayton is located in Montgomery Co). Could you help me with info on Samuel Furlong's family? Would appreciate it.

My James M.(not sure what the M. stands for, a couple of later James Furlong's had an M initial that was Miner) Furlong was born in NY in 1810. I have all the data about he and his wife and most of their 11 children. Slowly working my way through all of that. James's eldest son was named Robert(and there are several later Robert's also) but whether he connects to your Robert, I'm simply not sure. I do know his wife somehow connects to Harrison's also, but frustratingly I cannot find a concrete connection. Also have an unidentified Samuel Furlong in the family plot in Brooklyn who died in 1857, have no idea who he is. James married Angeline (Cash?) approximately 1835 or so, cannot find a listing for him in the 1840 census, the only James that shows up is a James M.(who I think is James Madison F.) Furlong in Illinois, but have no idea whether its him, somehow I rather doubt it as all of his children have their birthplaces as NY. Except one, Henry ! Harrison Furlong lists his father's birthplace in the 1880 census as Virginia and also has his own birthplace as Virginia. He is the only one of James children to do so, such a puzzle, as James himself has his birthplace in the 1850 and 1860 census as New York. I have one other unidentified Furlong that is living with James's widow in the 1870 census, a August Furlong, age 15. Can't find him anywhere in the 1880 census(except a fellow in Iowa and I don't think its the same one), so perhaps he was deceased by then. The Cash surname figures prominently with the Furlongs in the 19th century, Angeline's mother was Elizabeth Cash (b. in NY in 1798), have no clue what her maiden name was, the family bible had it Robertson, but I haven't seen those pages in years so I could be mistaken. I have a list of James and Angeline's children, along with other bits of information, such as occupations etc. As far as I know, none of my Furlongs were from Pennsylvania or Tenn. There was a vague bit of information via my great grandmother(James daughter with whom my mother was quite close) that they had briefly lived in Ohio for a time, but have found no evidence of them being there as yet. Any insight would be much appreciated, and look forward to hearing from you. One to a Sarah Parks, and then to my gggggrandmother Rebecca Smith of NYC, 1843. He only had one child w/her, so I do not know if he had any previous children. There are several Robert Furlongs: 1 is in PA, I have his will which links him to the VA Furlongs; 1 is in Tenn., I have his will, which again links him to the VA Furlongs. James is often in the Furlong line, I agree. Where do you stand w/your James in ny? I have alot of info, some not directly linked to my line, but perhaps to yours?

I am trying to track James M. Furlong, born New York 1810. Can find no record anywhere of his parents, although the name Robert does pop up with frequency in latter generations of this particular family. I have found traces of this Furlong family to Virginia, but no solid evidence of that as yet beyond census record's place of birth listings. Would be most interested to hear of Robert Furlong's offspring. Regards, Lisa Kelley
