My mother's line is MAXEY/HARRIS. When I was researching my MAXEY ancestors, I came across the will of RADFORD MAXEY which indicates his wife was ELIZABETH (?). In his will in Halifax Co., Va. WB O, p. 298: In the name of God amen, the 24th day of Jan 1771.....son JOSIAH MAXEY....dau SUSANA MAXEY...dau CROSHEA MAXEY...dau ELIZABETH MAXEY...son JOHN MAXEY...son WILLIAM MAXEY...dau SALEY MAXEY...son EDWARD MAXEY...wife ELIZABETH MAXEY. Also is the following...."I do constitute and appoint for my executors in this my last will and testament PAUL CARINGTON, JOHN FUQUAR and JOSEPH FUQURE." Many Fuqua researchers believe that Radford's wife was Elizabeth Fuqua. Is the above referenced will considered proof of this marriage? "At a court held for Halifax Co. 21 March 1771 will was exhibited into court by PAUL CARINGTON AND JOSEPH FUQUA, (JOHN FUQUA was already deceased). I also found out in my research of my FUQUA line that a WILLIAM HUMPHRIES (HUMPHRYS) married a MARY MAXEY, and their daughter, Margaret Humphries m. JOSEPH EYRES abt 1662 in Charles City Co., Va. and they were the parents of Jane Eyre who married GUILLAUME FOUQUET. What is the source that proves that William Humphries/Humphrys married Mary Maxey? If these two marriages between the MAXEYS and FUQUAS are provable, then it seems my tree has some more crossing branches. Pat C. Johns in VA
