    2. I'm not positive but it could have been Washington and Rebecca (Wilson) Fuqua. Their fourth child was Andrew M. I don't know who he married but their children were Will, Jasper, James and Marion. Hope this helps.

I see you have given me Leonidas as Fayette's father. I see from the 1880 census that both his parents are born in TX which could rule out Fayette as the grandfather unless the census got it wrong - Fayette Sr. is listed as born in Alabama with VA parents

I found a Fayette Fuqua (age 55 married to Naomi, he's from Alabama his folks from VA) on the 1880 census living in Grimes Co. TX (page 37 ED 59) and I also have a 1900 Census for Grimes Co. TX with a 19 year old Fayette Fuqua living with his Aunt Elvira Fuqua. I think this might be Bessie's husband. I wonder if the older one is Fayette's father or an uncle? I think you have the names okay - my dad had given me four of the five but was missing Lorin (Oscar)

I am hoping to reestablish contact with my cousin Alice Joyce Fuqua or perhaps my second cousins which would be the children of some of the children of the Fuquas you posted (you don't happen to have that generation do you?) You can e-mail me in private at oneremarkable@cs.com if you have any contact information. My dad and I visited with (Alice) Joyce in 1989 but have lost her address and phone. My dad is the son of Charlotte Paterson (Patterson) who was Bessie's younger sister. I have made lots of progress on the Paterson line and had some questions on the Rankin - Wellman line (Bessie's mother's lines) and I wanted to share information with my cousins. I know that Fay had done some research and I'm curious who might have wound up with her research notes.

Unfortunately, I do not have the marriage date for Samuel and Louisa. As for the relationship between John S Fuqua, who married Martha Elizabeth Richards and Richard S Fuqua, who married Sarah Elizabeth Richards; John and Richard were cousins. And, yes, John S Fuqua was the son of William R and Polly (Smith) Fuqua. Hope this helps, Claire Fuqua in Denver

Fuqua and Elizabeth Richards. There is no Samuel in the family but John S. Fuqua's mother was a Smith - with the Richards, the Smiths, and the Fuqua, I would think there would be some connection. I don't know if this has helped - but maybe it will give you an idea of where to begin - sounds as though they may have been cousins at least.
