Trying to find information on death date and location of Joseph FUQUA. Most researchers have Joseph listed as dying in Woodford Co., KY around 1813. To date I have been unable to uncover any proof of this from Woodford Co. archives or research. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of death information please let me know. Thanks, Glenn

Citation and Analysis for the Family Historian, by Elizabeth Shown Mills (published in 1997 by the Genealogical Publishing Co., Baltimore). "Successful research - research that yields correct information with a minimum of wasted time and funds - depends upon a sound analysis of evidence. Source citation is fundamental, but it is not enough. The validity of any piece of evidence cannot be analyzed if its source is unknown. Citing a worthless source is an effort that produces worthless results... Research, evidence, citation, and analysis are inseparable. Evidence is the vehicle that moves our research from curiosity to reality. Citation and analysis are the twin highways that get us there, smoothly and safely." The book provides guidelines for beginning researchers to experts on how to approach evidence and analysis in a consistent and logical manner. The use of these guidelines will improve the quality and credibility of one's work. Frank Fuqua

While taking care of some subscriber housekeeping, I have noticed individuals who are subscribed to both FUQUA-L and FUQUA-D. This is not necessary, although it is perfectly alright to do. FUQUA-L subscribers receive each message as it is posted. FUQUA-D subscribers receive the same messages, but they are compiled into "digests" which are sent periodically. Some people prefer to see each message as it is posted, while others prefer to receive the same information, but in fewer messages. I guess some people may prefer to do both. If not, you will lose nothing by unsubscribing from one or the other. We hope you will not unsubscribe altogether. Frank Fuqua List Administrator

I do not know who placed it in the file nor when. It appears to be typed on an older typewriter. "BEDFORD FAMILY BIBLE HAS VERY OLD RECORD Lynchburg Woman has English Bible which was Printed in 1795 in London Mrs. R. D. McGuire (McGlure), 312 F. Street this city, has in her possession the family Bible which belonged to her grandfather, Caleb Fuqua, who was born in Bedford County, May 7, 1778, and which contains family records running bck to 1769 although the book itself was not printed until 1795, coming from the Clarendon press in London in that year. The leather binding of the Bible has become badly worn from the 128 years' use, but the paper and print is well preserved, while the written entries, apparently done with quill pens are still as legible as if done in only recent times. The birth and death records are kept on white portions of printed pages, at the end of books inthe Bible, there being no space for these notations. In addition to the birth and death records of members of the Fuqua family several pages are given to record the birth of Negro slaves, one name always being given for the Negroes. Mrs. McGlure was a daughter of the late Granville Hatcher, of Bedford County, who was a descendant of the Fuqua family of that county. Among the notations made in the book are the following: Moses Fuqua, May 14, 1769 Milly Fuqua, January 2, 1771 Aaron Fuqua, June 2, 1773 Caleb Fuqua, May 7, 1778 Cele Fuqua, April 4, 1780 Cleopatria A. Hatcher, June 30, 1823. She was Mrs. McGlure's father's sister. Julius Hatcher, May 2, 1776 Julius Hatcher married Cele Fuqua September 5, 1779 Caleb Fuqua, May 7, 1778 *Amelia Fuqua, May 24, 1781 Caleb Fuqua married November 28, 1800 Abner Fuqua, November 23, 1801 Jesse Fuqua, September 27, 1803 Judith Fuqua, July 6, 1808 John H.
