    2. Hi Kayrn & Jan, Saw your messages about the Fuquas and Prather -- those families must have traveled together because I have William Henry Fuqua son Samuel & Margaret Jane "Lee" Fuqua) marrying a Emma Angeline Prather (dau of Reason & Sally Ann"Polly" "Veatch" Prather" ) in Council Bluffs, Iowa on 12-30-1877. I am related thru the Lee side. Mary

    3. Kayrn You say you found some family group sheets giving Rachel as the wife of Thomas. Did the person who put these together give some sort of source for this information? As for the Louisana connection....there were some Fuquas in Louisana..........but I think you are on the right track with Virginia. There are records of Thomas, Prather and Moses all having land in GA very early on. The Prather name leads right back to Bedford Co VA where William Fuqua married Sarah Prather in 1769. Sarah's father was Thomas..... Have you ever done any research in Bedford County to try and locate some records for Willliam and Sarah? Maybe a will or something. If I'm not mistaken there were some Candlers living in Bedford Co. also. Jan --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Shopping - with improved product search

    2. Hi Jan , I am still looking for Thomas Fuqua I have familygroup sheet records I got in Douglas, Ga ,Coffee County( at the library )that has Rachel married to Thomas and Henry Candler as their son. I am going next week to Washington County and again to Coffee county in Ga to see if I can find anything else . I will let you know if I find anything new.Henry Candler Fuqua as Im sure you know was born in Washington County before it was Jefferson Co .(1784) Also I plan to look in Hancock Co where I found land records before. I have the funniest Feeling that we have always assumed that this bunch was in Virginia first and My Father always told me they came from New Orleans, so I am going to start looking in that direction too instead of Va. Write me if you find anything new and if you agree with this about Loiusiana. Thanks very much, Kayrn

    3. I think, you, so many of our family records were lost in moves, between the age of 2-12 my family moved from Oakland, Ca, to Peru, IN, to Orange, TX back to Peru, In, To Chickamaga, GA, to Peru, IN to Oakland, CA back to Peru, IN and finally to Dallas, TX I knew that my Grandfather had died in the mid 1950's, but that all. By the time I became interested everybody was dead. I was never even sure that my GGrandfather was Thomas or William. This is now explaind. I wish I had more, but the records I had found are full of Thomas's Fuquas and Williams. Claire Fuqua <cfuqua@bigfoot.com> wrote: Virgil, I saw your note below and wonder if you could help me with your Fuqua line. Your parents: Virgil Lee Fuqua II and Rose Beatrice Songer grandparents: Virgil Lee Fuqua and Ada Myrtle Price ggrandparents: Thomas J Fuqua and Emma Dee Thurman gggrandparents: William Fuqua and Lydda M Allen Then my BIG question-Do you know the parents of William (who was married to Lydda Allen)? I think they may have been Joshua Fuqua and Jane Tait. If you have this information, please share it with me. I have been looking for the parents of William Fuqua from Drew Co, AR for a long time. Thanks, Claire Fuqua, now from Tucson Source: FUQUA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FUQUA] Floyd Freeman Fuqua (1901-1979) Floydada TX While I have no proof logic would dictate that somewhere there is a connection. Since Margaret Elvera Lucas was born in Drew County Arkansas, and married a Fuqua. Though the Fuqua was from Texas, he probably meet her through relative living in Drew County. My father was born in Drew County, Monticello to be exact. His grandfather lived in Drew County So there is likelyhood that we are distancely related. ==== FUQUA Mailing List ==== You are invited to visit the new Fuqua website at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~fuqua ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
