    2. Phyllis, it sounds like you have way more information than I do! Could you tell me how you got to the 1830 census? A few years ago, I happened across someone in Tennessee who, for free!, found the same information you did - John, Fuquay, and Fuquay, Jr. I'm really pleased to have this message confirmed. Since I only recently came upon John Beasley as father of Fuquay, and have not even heard of the Fuqua family, I'm not sure what I have that might help you, but if you have some specific questions, fire away. Do you have any suggestions on finding more information re: John and Bridget? Since I live in California, I might even use this research as an excuse to travel! Thank you so much for your rapid reply. I've never tried message boards before and am so glad this morning that I this one!! Let me know if I can be of help. Carole Harter

    3. I also have been interested in this family. Bridgett and John did have a son named Fuquay Beasley. I found him listed in the 1830 census of Monroe County Tn. page 113. His son Fuquay Beasley Jr is also listed on page 105. My great-grandfather Jesse Fuquay was living there in 1830. This is as far back as I have traced him other than he was born in NC. I think Jesse was related to the Beasley's, but I have no proof. Maybe we should campare our information. I knew Clara when I was a child. She was my father's (Norbert Brinkmann) first cousin. I remember her as tall and slender, and very pretty. My memory was that she married very young and that the marriage ended without children in divorce very quickly(perhaps the first divorcee in our family - very scandalous). No one ever spoke of the husband. I am sorry to hear of her passing - I remember her as a very pleasant person to be around, and she was very devoted to her mom, who was my grandmother's (Mary Frances Bartsch Brinkmann) baby sister, "Teenie". It seems to me that she was either a teacher in Louisville or a secretary.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hill Fuqua Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wYX.2ACEB/777 Message Board Post: I'm trying to trace the Fuqua ancestors of Ida Hill, born in1861 in Madison Township,Johnson County, Missouri. She stated that her mother was a Fuqua from Russelville, Kentucky. The Johnson County, Missouri census for Madison Township for 1860 is available online. It looks like her parents were most probably James H. Hill, age 27, and Mary E. Hill, age 29, both born in Kentucky. The Logan County, Kentucky1850 Census Index is available online and it indicates that there were seven Fuqua households in Logan County at that time, and also five Hill households. Logan County's census for 1810 is also available online. This census lists only one Fuqua household. James C. Fuqua and his unnamed wife were both over 45 years old. They had five sons and two daughters, all under the age of 26. It is possible that any of James C. Fuqua's sons could have been the father of a girl born around 1831. These are all of the leads I have so far.
