I was intrigued by the story of how Helen, one of your relatives, on the trip to the west in 1873 recalls the childhood memory of the crunch of grashoppers under wagon wheels on the journey from Winnipeg to Portage La Prairie, Canada. Perhaps the reason they came through Minnesota to reach Manitoba from Ontario was to use water transportation part of the way. I have looked through your web pages, but unfortunately I cannot find a link between our lines. My James Fulton b 1739 in Dalkeith/Musselburg Scotland came to America in 1782/1783 and finally settled in Bethel, Sullivan Co, NY. The roots of your family seems to be in Roxburgh, Scotland. I have not made any connection with my James Fulton in Dalkeith to any Fultons in Roxburgh. I wish I could. Regarding your Nellie Gertrude Fulton's descendants in the Martinez line who settle in Fernwood, Sullivan Co, NY in the 1920's, I do not think there is any connection to my Fultons in Bethel.
