    1. James Fulton
    2. Dave and Norma, I made a mistake. Went back and checked my information and everything has John and Mary (no last name) Fulton. Don't know where I got the Steele from. I will be more careful about what I put on here from now on. I think I am really lost when it comes to the Virginia Fultons. Here is what I have on James Fulton: "Revolutionary War Soldiers Who Lived in Gallia County, Ohio, Editors: Henrietta C. Evans, Mary P. Wood. James Fulton was drafted into the service from Augusta County, Virginia in June 1778 and served under lt. John Wahab, Regiment of Col. Abram Smith. After five weeks he was discharged and returned home to Augusta County. (This then goes on about his service). James Fulton was born 25 Apr 1751 in Augusta County, Virginia, to John and Mary Fulton. John's Father, James, arrived from Scotland (have seen this as Ireland) in 1733. James (the soldier) moved to Addison Township, Gallia County in 1812. He married first Jane Mathews in 1776, probably in Augusta County, Virginia, and she died about 1819. James married second a widow Fowler near Point Pleasant, Virginia. James died 15 July 1839 in Addison Township Gallia County and is buried at Jones Cemetery in Addison Township which is now known as Bing I Cemetery. James and Jane Fulton had the following children: (1) William born 1777 or 78 married Jane Lockridge 1805 Virginia (2) Thomas born 1783 married Margaret Hix 8 Jan 1811 Gallia Co., Ohio (3) John born 1791 married (1) Mary Martindale 23 Apr 1818 Gallia Co., Ohio; (2) Nancy Shaver Adkins (have also seen this as Atkinson on John's pension papers). (4) James, Jr. born 1795 married Margaret Gross 1 May 1823 Gallia Co., Ohio (5) Mary born 16 Oct 1777 married Samuel Bing 3 Aug 1797 Augusta County, Virginia (6) Margaret married Ferdinand Kinkade 19 Mar 1799. (Mary #5 is listed as his first child other places). Sources: (1) Pension File at National Archives #R3849 M804 Roll 1037 (2) DAR Application Papers #283426, Add 434 (3) Gallia Co. Marriages, Vol. 1 (4) Gallia Co., Ohio Wills, Vol. D, p. 362 (5) Gallia Co., Ohio People in History to 1980, p.138. I have received the same information from descendants of some of the above children. Will write them again to see if they have more sources. Will be sure to show my sources when entering anything in the future. Thanks again and if you can help me in any way with the Fulton's in Virginia I will greatly appreciate it. Margaret
