Irene, Thanks very much for the thought provoking information. I agree with your analysis and additional credence is lent by the fact that John Jr.(1755-1830) named his second daughter Eleanor Richmond Fulton (b.?, but between 1802 &1810). Because of this, I had the suspicion that the original Eleanore's (Helen's,) last name was Richmond, but I had been unable to make any connection until now. Obviously the spelling was getting in the way. Speaking of spelling, were John's & Jennet's last names spelled Foulton in the bible you reference? What was the spelling for the rest of the siblings? Also of interest, on one of our visits to Scotland in July of 1985, we stayed the night at Rowallan. Too bad that we weren't "armed" with this information then.
