Patrice is right: you may be able to prove that a "Fullerton" is indeed a "Fulton," but "Fullerton" is a diff. name entirely, coming from the western Highlands, w/ trad. associations with Clan Stewart of that area. "Fullerton" prob. derives from "fuller," someone who works with woven tweed. In the thirteen-century land records I have seen for Ayrshire, the common spelling is "Foulton."
