Hi --Your Robert Fulton Jr. search shouldn't be too difficult. Highland, Scotland G., Fourth Annual Christmas Plea, Clarksburg, WVA, 1926. Housed in the Western Reserve Historical Society library, Cleveland, OH CS71.S643 describes the Smith (MacDonald) family which is the lineage of Robert Fulton's mother, Mary Smith. She is related to Benjamin West, the portrait painter. Any good biography of Robert Fulton will tell you who he married, children... We also were told we were related to Robert Fulton, but did not know how. We knew we were related to the McKinnis family (there is a good printed geneology). Turns out Robert Fulton bought a farm in 1786, Washington co, Hopewell twp, PA, for his mother and sisters after he became famous. We are related through his sister Isabella Cooke. Her two daughters married McKinnis brothers and moved to Ohio in the early 1800's. >From Abstracts of Washington Co PA Wills, Western Reserve Historical Society Library, Cleveland, OH, F11x; 12/13/1814 Will of Robert Fulton, Jr, NY, NY pg 312 Beneficiaries: wife Harriett Livingston Fulton Brother: Abraham Smith Fulton Sisters: Elizabeth Scott Isabella Cooke Mary Morris (deceased) [She married David Morris, a nephew of Benjamin West] You need to research back from your grandparent through the census records, if necessary. I have more information, but I need to try to figure out where you fit to see if my material is relevant to you. We really enjoyed researching this line.
