He was got by Mr. Jacob Hiltzheimer's famous 'Old Juniper', which was the highest bred horse ever imported into America. . . ." ...(49) : : March 25, Monday Joseph Sherer was a Captain with a company of the Fourth Battalion of Lancaster County under the command of Col. James Burd Sherer's farm adjoined that of Col. Burd's near Highspire. The company saw action during the spring and summer of 1776 and some of the men were wounded in a skirmish with a party of British cavalry near Amboy, N.J.
