Continuing with the Fulton & Wynkoop families of Loudoun Co, VA... Susan Wetzl of Virginia has submitted more information pertaining to the Fultons of Loudoun County, Virginia. * * * Hugh Fulton purchased 141 acres on south side of "Kellerton" [sic, probably Katocktin] Mountains from John Quee, farmer of Loudoun Co, and wife Susannah. Witnesses: Rneas Campbell, Henry Oxley, William McGeath, Minor Smith Book M, Page 223, recorded 8 March 1779 * * * Recall that Robert Fulton purchased land of the Oxley family in 1775. Robert Fulton witnessed the will of Henry Oxley in 1776 which he also proved in 1777. (By the way, a transcript of the Henry Oxley Will does NOT include a middle initial "F" for witness Robert Fulton. Recall that Carol Proctor found Charles Tavener's abstract that stated that "Robert F. Fulton" witnessed Oxley's will in 1776. An Oxley transcriber did not see the middle initial in their photocopy of the recorded document.) Hugh Fulton paid taxes at Loudoun County, Virginia, as early as 1768. This new deed found by Susan proves that Hugh Fulton was also acquainted with the Oxley family. In 1779, Henry Oxley [Jr.] witnessed Hugh Fulton's purchase of the Quee land in Loudoun County. Other interesting facts: These three men may be contemporaries: Robert Fulton of Loudoun County, VA, died 1798. David Fulton of Berkeley County, VA, died 1799. Hugh Fulton of Loudoun County, VA, died 1803. All three men had sons named David Fulton: Hugh Fulton named his oldest son David Fulton. Robert Fulton named his oldest son David Fulton. David Fulton Jr. was one administrator of the estate of David Fulton of Berkeley County. Interesting, don't you think? Patrice (Fulton) Stark Lone Tree, Colorado
