Hello, Having read many birth and marriage records for Scotland in the 1700s, I cannot remember any births where the child was given a middle name. Middle names for my English ancestors did not occur until late 1700. That was the youngest child of one line and he was born ca 1780. It is the rare person who had a middle name before late 1700.
