    3. Continuing with the Fulton and Wynkoop family connections... [Thank you Celia Snyder for posting your informative "Yerkes/Fulton/Manor of Moreland" note (1/27/2000). It explains a lot about the Anthony Yerkes who signed his Will in 1790. To any researcher trying to pull these notes out of the Fulton Archives, be sure to search for this other message title!] Celia Snyder and I have shared information on the Fulton and Yerkes families in the past. I'd like to draw attention to the fact that we have puzzled over the "1755" marriage between Elizabeth Yerkes and David Fulton. Theoretically, it is possible that this woman is the daughter Elizabeth Fulton named in the 1790 Will of Anthony Yerkes II. However, Celia presents strong evidence that the daughter of Anthony Yerkes II was born in 1755 -- not 1735. We even considered that the "1755" marriage information was a transcription error. However, I searched and found a transcript of the original records of Christ Church of Philadelphia and discovered that the marriages are transcribed sequentially and the two Fulton marriages I have presented did occur in 1755. There is no mistake on the year. So here's my theory: there may be two separate marriages in this family between an Elizabeth Yerkes and a David Fulton! The first occured in 1755 at Christ Church in Philadelphia and the other occurred ca 1774 at an unknown location, probably Virginia. * * * * * Manor of Moreland (Thomas Holme Map, 1687) ^ Montgomery County org'd in 1784 | shares this angled northern boundary North ; | /\; Pennypack Creek crosses | / ;\ the northern portion of / ; \ the Manor of Moreland. / ; \ Pennypack appears to flow / ; \ into Dublin Creek? \; \ ;\ More- \ ; \ land \ ; \ Twp \ Byberry ; \ \ Township ; \ \ ; \ / ; \ / Lower; \ / Dublin \ / Township \ \ Poquessing Creek is to the ; \ \ east of this eastern boundary Dublin Creek \ \ of Moreland and divides flows into the \ \ Philadelphia Co. from Delaware River \/ Bucks Co. ; ~~~~~;~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Delaware River~~~~~ Philadelphia is located "down the river" to the southwest. They found a deed dated 1730 from "Richard Taylor, yeoman, of Cheltenham" to David Fulton, yeoman. [Sorry, I don't have the exact citation here at hand.] I suspect this may be the original entry for land owned by David Fulton of Lower Dublin Township. An advertisement in the "Pennsylvania Gazette" (5 July 1753) reads: “Tract of land in Lower Dublin Twp., extending N.W. by Henry Lycan’s land, N.E. by David Fulton’s land and S.E. by Benjamin Engle’s land, late belonging to Thomas Powell, dec’d, to be sold by Eleanor Powell, Joshua Jones and John Daniel., execs.” Again, on 8 January 1754, another advertisement in the "Pennsylvania Gazette": “Tract of land in Lower Dublin Twp., adjoining land of David Fulton, late estate of Thomas Powell, dec’d, taken in execution of suit of John Holme, to be sold by Sheriff Samuel Morris at Bussel-town.” Does anyone have more information on the Fulton family living in Lower Dublin Township? A Will of this David Fulton would be nice. He is certainly a good candidate for a "David Fulton Senior" mentioned in the "Wyncoop Genealogy" penned in 1878. The Powell Connection David Fulton of Lower Dublin Township owned land adjacent to Thomas Powell who died before 1753. Anyone have information on this Powell family? Did he have a son named Elisha Powell? If so, we're getting very close to connecting the David Fulton family with the Robert Fulton family of Loudon County, Virginia, and then we can connect to the adjacent Hugh Fulton family, and then ... I have to shovel snow in the walkway. Talk to you later. Patrice (Fulton) Stark Lone Tree, Colorado
