Secretary to the Council in 1683, member and Speaker of the Assembly in 1684, and chief Judge of the Provincial Court in the same year. The name Nicholas More of London, Gentleman, appears in "An Alphabetical List of the First Purchasers Names, With their Place of Abode," as part of An explanation of the May of the City and Liberties of Philadelphia, PA 3Rd Series III. 337. He, as of the parish of St.Gregory by St. Paul, London, doctor of physic, bachelor about 32, and Mistress Mary Hedge of the parish of St.Catherine Voleman, London, spinster about 16, with consent of her father Samuel Hedge, were married 22 Dec.1670. Nicholas More died intestate in Philadelph! ia Co. and letters of administration were granted on his estate 23 May 1687 to his widow Mary More. (Administration Book A,28#86). The baptisms of the children of Nicholas More and his wife Mary Hedge are not found of record in the first and third parish registers mentioned above; that of St.Catherine Coleman has not been examined here. The said Mary (Hedge) More Holme d. intestate on 17 Nov 1694 and was bur. in Philadelphia as a person not a member of Friends.
