There are several possibilities: - You know whom he married, so it should be possible to get a copy of the marriage certificate. This will show details of his father. - The 1881, 1891 and 1901 censi are available online and/or in other ways to researchers. - There are many sources of published information available now which list members may be able to check or to tell you about.
