For Thanksgiving dinner, I would like to sit down with my great (5th) grandfather, Jonathan Fuller Jr. (b.ca. 1740-50 and d. 27Oct1808 in Foster, RI) and his wife, Martha (TINGLEY) Fuller (1736/37 - 1828) in their hometown of Foster, Rhode Island. I would ask if besides my great (4th) grandfather, Obed Fuller (13Jul1777-29Dec1849) and his brother, Bela (1775-1814, never married) and his brother, Isaac Fuller (9Sep1779-8May1814), did he have any daughters? Then I would ask him when he was born (ca. 1740? ca. 1750?) and where? RI, MA, CT? What was his mother Hannah's maiden name? Was he really called "Jr?" I would tell him that in Foster and Scituate, RI land deeds and town records, I find him referred to as "Jonathan Jr." and that I have a land petition dated January 3, 1784 where Jonathan Fuller Jr. of Foster, RI petitions the RI Assembly to sell "A small lot of land in Foster" which belonged to the estate of his honorable mother, Hannah Fuller, late of Foster. Signing this petition were "we, the subscribers, being heirs" to Hannah's estate, support Jonathan Jr.'s petition. These heirs must have been my great (5th) grandfather Jonathan Jr.'s siblings: David Fuller, Sarah and Andrew Yeaw and Susannah Fuller. Tell me great (5th) Grandfather, where did these great (5th) aunts and uncles live? Oh - one more question - who were your grandparents? I have tried for nearly twenty years to find out but can't find the right paper trail. There were many Jonathan Fuller Jrs. And Srs. In the 1700s and early 1800s in the Northeast. Do you descend from Robert Fuller? Are you, indeed, a Mayflower descendant as some cousins tell me? Thanks so much for letting me ask these questions! Diana L.
