I want to add my two cents' worth to the discussion about the exclusive Mayflower Fuller chat group. I hope the two or three qualified members enjoy their private chats; but, I am certainly not interested in joining them. Am I a Mayflower Fuller descendant? I think so. Can I "prove" it? No. Do I care? Not in the least. In fact, I am much more interested in pursuing my even less proven links to ancient Scots royalty; not for the snob appeal, but because I am endlessly fascinated by Scottish culture and history. Let's face it, folks, until DNA testing becomes widely available, and until it becomes acceptable to spade up our purported ancestors to test their remaining cells, a good bit of this "proven" history remains speculative. Besides, in my personal observation, if all who claimed to be Mayflower descendants of any surname really were such, the Mayflower would have needed to be the size of the Queen Mary to have held all the ancestors. Frankly, I don't care if my immigrant ancestors (or yours) swam to this country from their birthplace. The Mayflower was a chunk of wood--not the Holy Grail. That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
