looking for info on William Fuller born abt 1770 Chester Pa any help appreciated Thanks Jerry
Ginger, Thank you for your answer. I have some dates at home. I'm traveling now. It was Bedford Iowa though. He was mustered out of the Civil War in 1866 in Victoria Texas. I will order his papers when I get home. I have done that for anther member of my family. Thank you. Zola
Hi Zola, where in Iowa was this family located?Do you know William's middle name,or birthdate? You could send for forms from The National Archives and get his Civil War papers, and perhaps, there is Pension Papers, they can be a big help with information....Ginger
Can you tell us,how far back, you have gotten? And the name please...Thanks,Ginger
Mayflower Information Total persons to make the1620 voyage to America was approximately 142---102 passengers and 40 crew members The voyage from England to America in 1620 took 65 days. The return trip in 1621 took 30 days. The Mayflower made several trips to the New World after its initial voyage in 1620. The Mayflower was used as a place of refuge until March,1621,,while land shelter was being arranged. About half the crew of the Mayflower died while in America, during the winter of 1620-21. Due to the shortage of crew members, the Mayflower made the return trip without cargo. The cook having died in America, free passage was offered to any woman who would cook for the crew on the return trip in 1621.No woman accepted the offer.
I have written before about my line of Fullers. There are a lot of William Fullers. My Great Grandfather was William Fuller in Buffalo New York where my Grandfather Spencer Jesse was born in 1862. William went to the Civil War. Grandmother Lucy stayed with some family in Iowa during this time. Spencer must have lived in Iowa as an adult because he met my grandmother there. William and Lucy lived near their son John in Iowa when at the end of their lives. Oral history from my mother was that William came from Vermont to New York. I don't know this for fact. I don't know where William was born. Hope someone can relate to this. Zola Webster

Many moons have faded into history since I last posted a query on the line of William Whaley FULLER, a new year has arrived, and maybe, just maybe, someone has joined the list since my previous posting and may recognize this FULLER line. Of my great-grandfather, William Whaley FULLER, I actually have located a fair amount of information. He was born January 14, 1828 in Ontario County, New York; married Jennie Adelia Thompson on February 20, 1856 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio; and died January 21, 1915 in Rolla, Missouri. Along the way, he and Jennie had William Thompson Fuller (1857 - 1918), Franklin Alexander Fuller (1858 - 1927), Sarah Jane Fuller (1860 - 1935), Cora Estelle Fuller (1863 - 1944), Marietta Fuller (1869 - 1944), and Myrtle Jennie Fuller (1875 - 1962). Based on family notes and some Census data, we believe that William Whaley FULLER may have had two brothers, Charles W. Fuller (b. 1834, Ontario County, New York ) and John Spencer FULLER (b. 1840, Ontario County, New York). Their father, Jacob FULLER, may have been born in 1792 in Royalston, Massachusetts, moving to Ontario County, New York, in 1814. There is a good possibility that Jacob's father was also named Jacob FULLER and was a Revolutionary War soldier. However, the trail is very old and weedy, and we are not certain that we are on the right path. If anyone else is following this line, please contact me and let us share our compass readings! Regards, Bill Fuller http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/f/u/l/Dorothy-P-Fuller/

Everyone - please read. I am forwarding this from fellow genealogist who just sent this to me today. She received this on another list and sent it to me. Some of you may be aware of this scam. I was not. Money is too hard to come by as it is, without losing like this. It's rather lengthy, but may save someone some trouble. Cecilia The below message is taken from an article in Dick Eastman's newsletter. Please send this on to others, we don't need anymore genealogists getting ripped off :) One of the top stories in 2003 in this newsletter was the arrest of Elias Abodeely, a 23-year-old in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who ran a string of pseudo genealogy sites. His arrest didn't seem to deter him: 2004 has started off with a rash of the same advertising. For those who missed it, let's briefly recap this scam. The sites involved included GenSeeker.com, GenSeekers.com, genealogydevelopments.com, familydiscovery.com, genealogyfinders.net, genlocator.com, genealogy-express.com, and probably many others. Abodeely would send out spam mail from one site, then collect money until the complaints mounted, and his site eventually would be shut down by the hosting service. A week or two later he would appear with a new name and a new site on a different hosting service conducting essentially the same business. To access his sites, the hapless buyer paid $40 to $60 (the exact amount varied from time to time). None of these sites contained any genealogy information; they simply had pointers to free sites where information could be found. In other words, the buyer paid $40 to $60 to access something that was already available free of charge. Abodeely eventually ran into lots of legal difficulties. On August 1, 2003, he was arrested in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on felony charges of first-degree theft, money laundering, and ongoing criminal activity. He was released later that day, and a court appearance on those charges still has not yet been scheduled. You can read about Abodeely's arrest in my newsletter at: http://www.eogn.com/archives/news0331.htm, in the Des Moines register at http://www.dmregister.com/news/stories/c4788998/21905604.html and at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=elias+abodeely+arrest ed&btnG=Google+Search. His arrest did not slow Abodeely very much. A month later he appeared selling "self-renewing" genealogy CD-ROM disks under the name GenealogyTechs.com. That site actually was registered to Andrew Abodeely. I obtained one of these "self-renewing" genealogy CD-ROM disks and wrote about it in detail in the September 29, 2003 Plus Edition of this newsletter. GenealogyTechs.com was shut down the day after my article was published. Things have been quiet for the past three months, but on January 2, 2004, a number of newsletter readers reported receiving some fishy-looking spam mail messages. In fact, the messages appear to be word-for-word the same as the old ads for "self-renewing" genealogy CD-ROM disks sent earlier from GenealogyTechs.com - except that the new ads are coming from GenealogyTechs.net. That's right: the only difference is the previously shut down dot-COM is now replaced by a newly-registered dot-NET. A quick check of the WHOIS information shows that Genealogytechs.net is registered to the same address as GenealogyTechs.com: 1013 Agate Street, Suite B, San Diego, CA 92109, the business address of Andrew Abodeely. That is also the same address that ships the worthless "self-renewing" genealogy CD-ROM disks. In short, the Abodeelys seem to have reappeared after a three-month hiatus. Elias Abodeely's earlier arrest for felonies doesn't seem to have fazed either of the Abodeelys at all. At the time these words are being written, http://www.genealogytechs.net is up and running and looks almost identical to the previously shut down http://www.genealogytechs.com. It is also interesting to note that the new site is like the old one in several respects, especially in that it cannot handle credit cards. Instead, the buyer is suckered into paying by an "e-check" that extracts money directly from the buyer's checking account with no credit card involved. Beware! This is one method by which the earlier sites allegedly extracted money time and again from a buyer's checking accounts! Several buyers thought they paid once but, after examining their end-of-month checking account statements, found that they had been charged time and again without permission. That is one of the actions that led to Elias Abodeely's arrest. Why would a company not offer payment by credit card? That is extremely rare in the online world. The answer is simple: the owner's credit rating is so poor that he cannot obtain the merchant account required to be able to accept credit cards. In this case, he cannot even obtain a PayPal account, which is easy for mostpeople to obtain. No credit card service will give a merchant account to someone awaiting trial on charges of money laundering by using credit cards! Without access to a credit card merchant account, the Web site owner is forced to resort to online checks, a risky method for any buyer considering an online purchase. Remember that purchases made online with VISA, MasterCard or American Express are fully insured against fraud by the credit card companies. If you get "ripped off" by a shady merchant when using a credit card, the credit card companies will immediately refund all of your money and then will pursue resolution with the merchant. PayPal transactions are also fully insured in the same manner. However, if you pay by check, you have no such protection. That is true both for paper checks as well as for "e-checks." You receive only whatever insurance your local bank provides. Sadly, most banks provide no protection at all against fraudulent purchases made with a check or with a debit card. Send a check to a con artist? You lose. Any time you see a Web site offering something for sale and not accepting credit cards, ask yourself, "Why does this merchant not accept credit cards? Not even via PayPal?" Most of the time, it is because that merchant has severe financial problems. Then ask yourself if you really want to do business with such a merchant. If you receive a spam mail from GenealogyTechs.net or any similar-sounding scam, please forward it to the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Police Department's Financial Crimes Division at k.washburn@cedar-rapids.org. I suspect they have an interest in the "business activities" of this person, who is awaiting a court appearance after being arrested by that department. Please feel free to also enclose a copy of this article. You can read more about the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Police Department's Financial Crimes Division at http://www.cedar-rapids.org/police/financial_crimes.asp. Contact me if I can help. Christine Thanks for the information Christine. I don't think this is my line - I can take the line back to the 1600's and I don't think there was a William. Also my first Dickinson was not on the Mayflower. He perhaps was the nephew of Edmund and Samuel and came only to visit but fell in love with the country and stayed. To be honest I don't remember what I had posted on the Fuller boards. I haven't done any work on genealogy for a long time and I'm now starting again. I have been very fortunate in finding information on many lines in fact all most too much. I'm lucky to live in the Detroit area which is close to Lansing our State Capital and the marvelous Library loaded with genealogy information. If you need any lookups regarding your lines let me know and I would be happy to check for you. Thanks for the response Doris

I have family names that include George Washington Fuller, but it doesn't appear to be the same man. Some of my lineage goes back to Shoreham, Add., Vermont.Joseph Fuller, Sr, (wife-Rachel Miller) had 6 children born there. They are Pruellah, 1788: Nathaniel, 1789: Sarah, 1791: rachel, 1795: Benejamin, 1797. Their son, Joseph, Jr,(1799) had a son George Washington Fuller 1825. The famiily moved to Madison, Ohio in 1816 with Joseph Sr, second wife, Aletha Ives. If I am reading this info correctly, George W was my great, great, grandfalther. He came to Wisconsin with other brothers, as well. I am just starting to put this all together, but it is very interesting for me. If I can be of further help, please email me. good luck searching.
Hello Happy New Year!!! I am wondering if any body on these lists can help me over my brick and Concrete Wall. I know that my Great grand fathers name was William Fuller and that he was born in Vermont. He moved to the St. Louis Missouri area before 1859 because my my Grandfather George Washinton Fuller b. 1859 and his sister Anna b. 1861 were born here. William and his wife Mary are buried side by side in Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in St. Louis Missouri. My brick wall is where was he born in Vermont. Oral history of family says that he was a Mayflower Descendant. My grandmother Lillian used to brag that she had married in to a Mayflower family. I figure if William was 20 when grand dad was born that would put him as being born about 1839. But Mary could have been a second or third wife and he may have been older. Help Please and Thanks in advance Doris Jeane Fuller Dalrymple Many would be scantily clad if dressed in their own humility. Anonymous
