    3. I know the feeling of being frustrated!! I can't get back past my Great Grandfather. William Burton FULLER b. ca. 1858 supposed to have been Watertown or Sackets Harbor, Jefferson County, N.Y. Moved to Michigan around 1873. Can't learn of his parents, brothers or sisters. :-( His marriage record and death record doesn't list them. He left no other paper trails that I can find. He went by the first names of William, Burton, Bert, Bertrand and Albert. If anyone happens to have him listed in ANY ..... "FULLER" family book..........PLEASE let me know!!!!!! Thank-You, A "FULLER" :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: Deena Collins <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 04, 2000 8:07 PM Subject: Re: FULLERS > I agree with both postiongs about the Mayflower only Fullers group - I think > my Fuller ancestors came over on the Mayflower, but have been unable to > trace them further back than early 1800s. 3. Mayflower? Seriously doubt it. My FULLER's were more like "wallflower Fuller's". While everyone else around them was busy getting recorded in various publications of their day, I can imagine mine hiding from anyone who knew how to write ;-) So if any of you happen to run into Caleb FULLER somewhere around Somerset Co, PA in 1820, or Preston Co, WV, in 1830, I'd appreciate it if you'd drop me a line. - Chuck [email protected] Mary Sherwood wrote: > > Frankly, I don't care if my immigrant ancestors (or yours) swam > to this country from their birthplace.

    1. Fullers vs Mayflower Fullers
    2. Byron Bray
    3. Dear Friends and Fellow Researchers, I have ZERO desire to get caught up in the current "Mayflower Fuller" vs "Other Fuller" controversy. I would observe, however, that the idea of having a private "members only" site restricted to those who can prove their Mayflower roots seems, to me, to be self-defeating. After all, this prevents even those who HAVE Mayflower roots, but who haven't yet discovered them, from finding the very people who could help them make those connections. It's disheartening to see the flames that one message generated, but I understand the reaction. People's feelings get hurt when they're told that they are "not allowed" in the club . . . Lighten up, my friends; it's a beautiful day!! 2. Amen to what is being said about the Mayflower Fullers only site. I, too, am a Fuller and as someone said, a Fuller is a Fuller. The rest of us had to get here somehow and most likely it was from the 'Mayflower Fullers'. So what if the rest of us are having a hard time climbing the branches of the Fuller Tree. Not ALL of the Fuller's were tracked as good as others or lived in a state that didn't do such a good job of tracking. But we are Fuller's never-the-less.

    3. Does anyont out there have any information on the ancestors of Green Fuller and Delilah Atwood ? Green Fuller born 4/7/1863 Tuscumbia, Alabama died 8/1/1918 married second time to Delilah Ann Atwood b. 8/23/1865 Russville or Russellville, Alabama d. 1/16/1916 both buried Shady Grove Cemetery near Clarendon, Arkansas. I had always been told that the Fuller line was Cherokee Indian, but I don't know any facts. I have tried locating info but with my inexperience in genealogy research I have only turned up an iffy or a maybe. Also the only thing that even gives a hint of being true is that Delilah Ann Atwood may have been the daughter of Jesse Atwood and Sally Sanders. HELP if you can. My mother 79 is hoping to learn these facts before she meets with counsins later this month. Hedy Butler e-mail address [email protected] or snail mail P.O. Box 1351 , Jena, LA 71342

    3. I do think the original email was a little offensive, probably unintentionally, but I think the follow-up remarks should have been sent through email. Now if I'd only heed my own words. BTW, I don't know think the Mayflower Fullers should feel at all uncomfortable about their heritage. Not all of us came from mountain men, descended of Scots. The important thing is we all started out from people who pounded cloth around for a living. <G> Or Irishmen who couldn't spell their names. Now, as all our grannies would have said, HESH! <G> Melody (still looking for those east Texas Fullers)

    1. A Mayflower Fuller Response
    2. Baker
    3. Hi, In response to an unhappy poster I will explain why I did it. Yes, there should be a way and which we have a free exchange of ideas. But some people are private people and they are not as open as you! An e-mail friend has set up a site and she just happens to be a Mayflower Fuller. It is a private site with her private things in it. But she would like to chat with other MayFlower Fuller if she could. Thus, she does not mind if fellow MayFlower descendants see her sight and chat. Thus, I posted this for her. I am sorry you took offense to my post. Ellen Baker

    1. Taking offense
    2. I don't understand why some folks took the Mayflower list as a personal insult. The purpose of the list is not to brag about the Mayflower, but to discuss and research common relatives. Unlike this list, which has members and emails concerning many different Fuller lines, the Mayflower list limits discussion to 1 specific Fuller family whose sons were Pilgrims. That means that everyone is directly related, and there are no emails that don't apply to your own family. Using your logic, members of the Fuller list are snobs for not encouraging unrelated discussions about the ancestors of Ho Chi Min. That's not called snobbery - it's called focusing on the subject of your research. Regards, Asa Gage

    2. Please, can we get back to research? I have no opinion, either way, on the private Mayflower Fullers group. But, I must say, it is disheartening to see so much lashing out. Perhaps if our list owner can comment, we can put this behind us. I hope I do not receive any negative e-mails, for if so, I will unsubscribe from the group for a while, if not permanently. Not that any of you might care much about that, but I would hate to have to do it. But I will, if this continues. Sincerely, Sir Ben and Lady Mary Hendrickson

    3. Hi. I don't think many of the responders to the Fuller posts today are grouchy. Just stating that a Fuller is still a Fuller, no matter what the ancestry. In any event, one thing stands out today...I have never seen so much reference to the Fuller line in one day as I have today. Maybe something good will come out of this. just another Fuller... 3. I want to add my two cents' worth to the discussion about the exclusive Mayflower Fuller chat group. I hope the two or three qualified members enjoy their private chats; but, I am certainly not interested in joining them. Am I a Mayflower Fuller descendant? I think so. Can I "prove" it? No. Do I care? Not in the least. In fact, I am much more interested in pursuing my even less proven links to ancient Scots royalty; not for the snob appeal, but because I am endlessly fascinated by Scottish culture and history. Let's face it, folks, until DNA testing becomes widely available, and until it becomes acceptable to spade up our purported ancestors to test their remaining cells, a good bit of this "proven" history remains speculative. Besides, in my personal observation, if all who claimed to be Mayflower descendants of any surname really were such, the Mayflower would have needed to be the size of the Queen Mary to have held all the ancestors. Frankly, I don't care if my immigrant ancestors (or yours) swam to this country from their birthplace. The Mayflower was a chunk of wood--not the Holy Grail. That's just my opinion. I could be wrong. 1. FULLER INFO
    2. there is a ton of info on this fuller family of the mayflower. my line is thru robert fuller who m. sarah bowen. he has the same ancestors of the mayflower fuller's and i have him back another 6 generations. whatever info anyone finds on the internet, please double check all of it as there is a ton of garbage on about any name you care to search. the books put out by the mayflower soc. and others usually list the sources. NEHGR is an excellent source for these people. page after page on the lineage. higginson has really good books as does the NEHGS and most are happy to give sources. my whole purpose in this genealogy is to share anything and everything with others as i think the more we share the more we will find. i do not belong to lists that charge and then have people send in their lineages. that is part of what is wrong with the ancestral file. its a great idea but it went very bad some time ago. i have the anc. file and igi on my pc and at times i use it for reference or a place to start. its kind of nice to be able to say you have mayflower ancestor's since these folks helped make this country and although i have been asked repeatedly to join the mayflower soc. it just isn't for me. but others seem to enjoy it, so go for it if thats what you want. anyway, with all the places to search and books to read i see no reason to even bother with a site that one can get into only if they can prove their line of descent. i recently got out of the hospital but when i am feeling better i would be more than happy to help if i can. i have a ton of books and if anyone wants copies of pages i charge nothing for my time but i like to get postage and ten cents per copy. that way i can continue. i am certainly no expert on the fuller family since i daughter out pretty early but i do have quite a number of books and cds. gary in oregon
