I am not using the browser from within FTM. BTW I am using IE 9. When I used a higher version of IE I had trouble with some newspaper sites that go to Acrobat. I just copied the place name from ancestry.com and pasted into WordPad and it worked correctly - the place name copied. Went to FTM and pasted - the birth date (first text on the page) copied. Thanks for your suggestions.
