As others have said, FTM 2014 installs and works well under Windows 8.1. Have you used the FTM 2014 DVD to install it before on another operating system? Have you tried to install FTM 2014 from this DVD on another machine? Since this is a new computer, I'm assuming that no version of FTM has been installed on it before. One thing you might try. Copy the Contents of the DVD to your hard disk and try to install it from there. Once you have it installed you can remove the folder holding the items you copied from the DVD. Good luck.
