It only happens after many merges of searches. I will press "ENTER" And immediately the screen will show a faint image of the program and get a message from Windows that FTM has stopped working, and that it will close the program. When I re-start the program, I have to compact the file, then re-load it. It seems that all I lose is what I just entered. I'm running Windows 7 32 bit version. I also have a question about relationships. First cousins married several generations back. According to FTM 1006 ver. 16, I'm my own 8th cousin, and my father is my 7th cousin once removed. In FTM 2014 this relationship doesn't show up, even if I select "show all relationships". Is there a fix for this so this relationship will show up? Have you tried running the relationship calculator between [say] you and you father? It will display multiple relationships in the drop down window John D
