    3. You haven't said how you created the new file. Did you start with a completely new file and manually add each individual and their facts? Or did you start with another file? Are you attempting to merge the same individuals in both the new file and your current file? If they are not the same individuals, have you tried adding the individuals whom you are trying to merge to your main file and seeing whether they merge there? How many people are in the new file? 3. I imported my file from FTM 2006 v.16 into FTM 2014. With over 9,000 people in the tree, I felt it was the best option, instead of starting over. The new file now has over 16,000 entries. 3. I started with a completely new file. The two files have no relation to each other. One is my family. The new one is for a friend. I told him I would do some genealogy work for him & print some reports. I don't plan for it to ever be a huge file. I'm not trying to merge his family names into mine because it's a completely different family with no relationships with mine. I started out with 5 people in the new file, the only information he had to give me. With each person there was a "leaf." So when I clicked on the leaf and found new information I was not able to merge it as the merge info never appeared on the screen (the lower right part) with one exception when it appeared after waiting more than 5 minutes. After trying for 3 days I deleted the file and started over with the same 5 people and had the same problem. In my own file I've had no problems with the merge feature. I've checked this each time I found I could not merge in the new file. Nancy On 1/20/2014 9:54 AM, BJ wrote: > You haven't said how you created the new file.
