I suggest you approach it from a slightly different path. Try this: 1. Logon to Ancestry.com 2. Set up a new tree there and enter the 5 people in the online tree. 3. That tree should get the leaves - Hints 4. Review the hints online. 5. Once you have all of the information, you can download the information from the Ancestry Public Tree and import it into FTM 2011. 6. Now you should be able to produce any reports. 7. With the tree on Ancestry.com, you can invite your relative/friend to view the tree online and you can even give them Editor privileges so they can make changes if they want. Something else you might check with the new file is the speed at which FTM 2011 is using your internet. 1. Open the new file. 2. Go to Tools, Options and look in the General tab for the speed of your internet. 3. Compare that setting to the same option in your normal file. 4. I don't know whether it might help or not but you might try increasing the speed. I can't say whether this is a conspiracy or not but I recommend updating to FTM 2014 at any rate. It is by far a better product than FTM 2011 or even FTM 2012. Hope this helps a bit. BJ On 1/20/2014 2:30 PM, Nancy wrote: > I'm the original poster. BJ, as a thought. Nancy had the problem today after a new install of 2011. She checked for updates. Would 2011 updates still be available? Was there a 2011 update that dealt with merging? Jay Thompson just an old genealogy nut too tough to crack. ________________________________ From: BJ <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, January 20, 2014 5:58 PM Subject: Re: [FTM-TECH] FTM/Ancestry Problem Update - Leaf/Hints/Merge I suggest you approach it from a slightly different path.
