Thanks for your response and the link. I read this but it didn't seem to have any information that would help me. I did compact the file, but it's a small one - only 5 people. After I deleted it and started over with a new file I had the same problem. Today I'm going to try putting the FTM program on my laptop and start over with the 5 names I have for this family. Again, it's to be completely separate from my file because we aren't related in any way. I'm doing this as a favor for a friend who just wants some general information about his family.
