FTM 2011 has been on the computer for quite a while. I just haven't used it recently so checked for updates first. I signed up for Ancestry on Jan. 15. I wasn't working with my original file but had started a new one for a different family. Anytime you install the program fresh Ancestry will ask you to register the program. That is so they can keep you up to date and send you info on new releases. It's a good thing to do. They will ask if you want to upload your file, but it is not necessary and easy to say "no". > > Sent from my iPhone > >> On Jan 18, 2014, at 16:55, Nancy<[email protected]> wrote: >> >> FTM Version 2011 >> Windows 7 >> >> I recently signed up for 6 months of Ancestry. FTM Version 2011, Windows 7: Today I tried again to merge facts from Ancestry to my new FTM file. Again it was terribly slow or non-responsive. One time it did let me merge after waiting over 5 minutes. So I tried merging with my other FTM file which I've been working on for years. The leaf/hint/merge process worked perfectly. I then called Ancestry for advice and they had nothing to offer via the phone. I was told I would receive an email with some information; that never happened. I was also told to check YouTube; I didn't see anything helpful there. So I decided to delete the new file and start over. I had only entered a few names. I did this but nothing changed with the leaf/hint/merge process. I'm baffled since my old file with about 5000 names works beautifully but my new file with 5 names doesn't work. I've checked for updates, compacted the file, and done everything else I know to do except to load FTM on my laptop and try that. Any more suggestions? Nancy
