Hi Allie, I may be able to help you. When you have your FTM-2014 or other version open, click on the backup under the file tab. Backup location shows as F:\ but at the end of that box you will see a down arrow. Click on that arrow and a drop-down menu is shown with all of your known removable drives. Just click on the one that you want to back up your file onto. This allows you to change the default from F: to your external drive. Thank you Arnie for your offer of help. I am running FTM 2014 on Windows 7 Backup location down arrow only shows one choice and that is F:/ However, I did find a way around it and was able to save the file to G:/ Too tired now to go into details for now. Tomorrow I will try to see if it was saved successfully as I received a message that FTM had shut down perhaps prematurely. Sigh!
