Hi Beth, Yes, you can have two different files open at the same time on the same computer and using the same FTM program. The easiest thing is if you have dual screens so you can have one file shown on one screen and the second one on the second screen. Once you have the first file open then just click on tab for File and select Open/Open in New Window then when the Open Family file window opens select the second file that you want opened. Hope this helps. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Arnold E. I have several small individual trees for different branches of the family. I would like to add the small files to my mail FTM tree. Is it possible to open a second FTM on this computer so that I can open one file on that and have my main file open on the first FTM that I open? I would like to have these open side-by-side so that I can compare the information in both files and add what is different from small file to main tree. Hope this makes sense. I do have Version 16 so I could reinstall that on this PC to use for second file, but it seems much more simple if they are both open to the same version. Arnie, thanks so very much for this help. I wish I did have two monitors but will have to get by with just opening each as large as I can handle them on my one screen. I really do appreciate your clear instructions for what I need to do. I have really not used the 2012 bur a couple of times, so it is another whole ballgame! I am so thankful for you and all the good people on this list who help those of us struggling to get our trees planted. Thanks again, Beth -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Arnie-Krause Sent: Thursday, February 06, 2014 2:08 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [FTM-TECH] Open two FTM on same computer Hi Beth, Yes, you can have two different files open at the same time on the same computer and using the same FTM program.
